After recent drops like “Crazy Black Woman” and “Words”, British songstress Lola Godheld is back with a fiery new single for “Can’t Pull Me Down”, which is produced by Victizzle.
“Can’t Pull Me Down was inspired by one of my girlfriends, who had a rough time growing up but has been able to turn her life around. She always tells me, ‘they can’t pull me down Lola, I won’t let them’”, Lola explains. “This record is for her and everyone else going through it, to remind you that ‘they’ can’t pull you down unless you let them. Nobody can do anything you don’t allow them to do. The power is in your own hands”.
The edginess of the song gives you a bit of a Rihanna-feel, but Lola’s strong vocal ability, accompanied by the thumping bass and heavy drums, makes “Can’t Pull Me Down” a motivational banger with plenty of crossover appeal.
Lola is gearing up to release her debut EP, Black Water, later this summer and if “Can’t Pull Me Down” is any indication, we are in for a sonic treat, indeed.
