Frank Ocean has been a disappearing act recently but now he’s showing us his Clavins! Recently we’ve seen posts of him in nurse attire and even suspicions of him dropping his new album (lies told on twitter). However, his recent trick is appearing in the new 2016 Calvin Klein ad. I personally couldn’t be more excited to see him coming out to play.
He is shown in the condensed and sense evoking commercial arriving on a 90s style talk show Talk Calvin which, quickly evolves into his own scene where he is speaks the poetic lines:
“The place where the fields went down in flames
we could put a hole in the ground,
throw seeds and dance for rain”
I’m not entirely sure what this means but its the closest thing we have to his lyricism at the moment, so I’ll take it!
The rest of the commercial features others including Young Thug, Zoë Kravitz, Kate Moss, Margot Robbie, and many more! The campaign not only grabs your attention by who is in it but with sounds of music, mixed with melodies, and voices mixed in conversations. The color of the campaign is brilliant and the constant clips that are flickered through is reminiscent of the world we live in today.
As all of this is happening with the words lightly placed over the screen, “I _____ in #mycalvins.” The blank is constantly being changed into different verbs and names as the clips change. Truly expressing that you can do any and everything in your Calvin Kleins.
Frank Ocean might even drop a new album in his Calvins. Maybe? Hopefully? Please?
