In September, UK Rapper Danny Seth released “I Arise Because,” a heavy-hitting single from his upcoming album, Perception.
Yesterday, A$AP Ferg posted a cover of the track in collaboration with YG to SoundCloud, renaming their lyrics over the Ducko McFli and JGramm Beats produced beat “This Side.” The project follows Seth and Ferg’s last collaboration on G-Eazy‘s “Lotta That,” released over the summer.
“This Side” towns down Seth’s original caustic tone, while still maintaining his angry energy. Ferg’s matter-of-fact delivery of lines like “On this side kids do drugs, on this side kicks gang bang, on this side better know your codes,” resonate over the snare and hi-hat-heavy beat. YG brings a supportive energy that complements Ferg’s Trap Lord style. The collaboration premiers in the wake of the announcement of Ferg and YG’s upcoming “BestCoast Connection” Tour, and follows the duo’s last collaboration on June’s “Click Clack.”
We’re not sure which version of the track we like better. Take a listen to both and let us know what you think!
