YoVo is a Chicago based artist, songwriter, entrepreneur is half Puerto Rican and half European descent. Born in Chicago, it was there that he developed his musical interests, and it wasn’t long after until he began to take the stage and amuse his family and friends all of which have had a profound influence on the direction his musical journey has taken. The development of his unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up, YoVo was always surrounded by different forms of music. His parents exposed him to a wealth of music as a child, all of which influenced his development. With his debut album Mood Swings on the rise in 2020. YoVo looks forward into stepping back into the music scene to spread postive vibes and once again inspire the masses.

RESPECT.: Where you from?

YoVo: I am from the northside of Chicago. Roger’s Park area. Born in Park Ridge and raised in different parts of Illinois and Florida.

RESPECT.: When did you first discover music?

YoVo: I first discovered music at an early early age. My dad would always ride around the city with me in the car bumping old school music and he would always watch my head bounce in synchronization with the beat so ever since then, I’ve always listened to random instrumentals and from that point on i knew i had something special within me.

RESPECT.: Who’s your musical influences?

YoVo: have alot but I would have to say Outkast, Drake, Eminem, 50 cent, lil Wayne, Ice Cube and way more tbh.

RESPECT.: When did you first fall in love with hip-hop?

YoVo: I fell in love with hip-hop when my dad bought Outkast’s Aquemini album and man did that album just wake up something in me. the way they can take words creatively and tell their stories on how they feel always stuck to me,even till this day.

RESPECT.: Do you feel you have the music figured out?

YoVo: I mean music always evolves and changes as the times go by so i feel as an artist so do i….so no, i am still learning on a daily basis to taylor my craft into inspiration and positive influence.

RESPECT.: You droppin your debut project ‘Mood Swings’ how will the album shake up the scene?

YoVo: The album will shake up the scene because it comes from the mind, body, and soul. This is not an album i made just for fun, this is am album that when people hear it they can feel exactly how i feel… the beauty of the mind is we have so much different emotions we can tap into and people always like different things in life so why not create an album that can possibly be for everyone?

RESPECT.: What do you bring to the game?
YoVo: I bring heart and passion in the game and the will to keep fighting for what i believe in no matter what others think.

RESPECT.: Who would like to work with in the future?

YoVo: I love creating and bouncing ideas with alot of artists that are passionate just like me so I would like to work with everybody but if I had to choose someone it is definitely Drake.

RESPECT.: What are your upcoming plans for music?

YoVo: My upcoming plans are to flood the streets with content that can inspire and influence the masses to follow and chase on whatever they wanna become or whatever they believe in.

RESPECT.: What does RESPECT. mean to you?

YoVo: RESPECT. to me is something that is earned, not given meaning that whatever obstacles you face in life show the world on who you truly are.. don’t be a follower but be a leader and the world will respect you for being you.
