Your Old Droog Takes it to Times Sq in “42 ( Forty Deuce)” Visuals

42nd Street is a tourist’s haven and a native New Yorker’s worst nightmare. In his latest visuals, Your Old Droog hit forty-deuce disguised as the stereotypical crazies you meet in Midtown- you know the “upcoming” rapper who won’t let you walk by without listening to his mixtape, the sketchy hot dog seller, and even a creepy breakdancing Elmo.

In an interview with Complex, the Brooklyn lyricist describes the Jonah Schwartz directed “42 (Forty Deuce)” as:

“A song that’s literally been in the making for over a decade. Wanted to flip this sample since ’05 and I finally brought it to a producer and got the job done,” Droog told us over email. “It’s about a special place I really used to frequent back in the days. The video is a halfway glimpse into that and my halfway breakdancing skills. ‘Yo, you listen to hip hop?!'”

New Music: Maticulous Feat. Masta Ace & Blu – “Bet Your Life”

Brooklyn resident and promising beatsmith Maticulous returns with the third release off of his forthcoming official debut, “The Maticulous LP.” Known for his soulful, carefully orchestrated soundscapes, “Bet Your Life“ falls far from short of this expectation. The record finds veteran emcee Masta Ace alongside one of the west’s acclaimed voices Blu – you can’t go wrong there. Dj Skizz is on the venomous scratches, which is always refreshing to hear in 2015. In the past few years we’ve seen a fair amount of compilation records, which can sometimes seem easily replaceable and not leave a huge impact for hip-hop heads. But Maticulous’ passion and careful hand selection of emcees for this release may just bypass that theory. With a line-up consisting of M.O.P., Guilty Simpson, yU, Rah Digga, Rock (of Heltah Skeltah), Your Old Droog, and other notable artists. Meet Your Old Droog, the up-and-coming rapper who, contrary to internet rumors, is not Nas. Droog, who will be featured in the next print issue of RESPECT Mag, just dropped his “Where The Rhymes At?” freestyles on Soundcloud.

Take a listen, where Droog critiques the recent tendency of rappers to be too caught up in the trap hype to pay attention to their lyrics.
