Rising Atlanta rapper Young Nino has big dreams of making a living through hip-hop. He has a hot new EP called Money, Sex, and Power and recently dropped a music video for his single Paper, Steak, & Shrimp. Via Telephone, we sought to understand the meaning behind these releases and where exactly this rapper comes from. Thankfully, we got the answers and we are here to share them with you! Check out our new interview with the rapper below and watch his music video.

RESPECT.: Hey Nino, nice to finally get you on the phone! So you were born and raised in Atlanta correct?

Yes, I’m from Southside Atlanta. That is where I came from and where I kick it at.

RESPECT.: When did you start getting into music heavy?

I started when Master P was big. You know OutKast and Goodie Mob? Well that whole sound inspired me.

RESPECT.: Well, what can you say is your biggest influence?

It was Master P because he was showing people that it is possible to do things independently. It can be done! It was great seeing someone from the south that showed us how to get things done. Also, seeing young black tatted up rappers with gold teeth getting money on their own was inspiring.

RESPECT.: Let’s talk about your Money, Sex, and Power EP. How did that come about?

Basically, it was a reflection of the times we are living in. It’s all driven by sex and money. Really, everyone wants power. It’s a motivation project and it is something for the streets and the clubs. We even have one on there for the women.

RESPECT.: Anything in particular inspired you to put this together?

Really, it was everything around me. I thought it would be dope to put out a body of work out rather than a single.

RESPECT.: I loved Paper, Steak, & Shrimp and I saw that the song features hip-hop legend Pimp C. Are you a huge fan?

Oh absolutely! Basically, a producer shot the single to me and it had a Pimp C sample on it. I knew it would be great for the culture. I feel like a lot of people would relate to the song. Paper, Steak, and Shrimp is motivation and a reflection of the good life.

RESPECT.: I noticed you had a robe on and a lot of ladies around you. Looked familiar! Did this look come from anyone in particular?

The director came up with a concept. We wanted to do things different and give it a black Hugh Hefner type of look. We were in the hood of Atlanta. Zone 3 to be exact in a “trap house.” We wanted something flashy and a gritty. He was able to bring that to life.

RESPECT.: So, what is next for Nino?

We’re getting ready to take things to another level. A lot of performances and radio placements. We’re grinding extra hard with this.
