The Bay Area has always been noted for developing a sound of it’s own that went on to become a staple within Hip-Hop culture. New age artists like Bay area rapper Gwalla Boi Slim aim to continue that legacy with their contributions to the music scene. Coming off the release of his “Drop It Low” single, Slim is on fire right now.

Hailing from Menlo Park, CA, Slim began his musical journey at the early age of 15 years old. His influence in the way he approaches his music stems from the likes of legendary rappers like Busta Rhymes, Ludacris and Lil Wayne. Their unique come up stories inspired the bay area rapper to use his gift to make his way out of poverty and take the necessary steps into entrepreneurship.

Throughout his growing career, Slim has opened for Young Dro, and collaborated with the likes of Mistah FAB, Montana of 300, & OMB Beezy. BET Network Takes us ‘Inside the Label’

We’ve all heard the stories of record labels and the ups and downs being contracted with one may cause. Here and now BET network is taking us all behind the scenes of some of the greats. Tonight, May 17th at 8:00 ET and 9:00 ET make sure to tune into the first part of the eight-episode-docs-series. Uptown Records is the first up in the spotlight to dig into all the dirt, good and bad with a Part I and Part II episode of the journey. Some of Hip Hop’s most iconic labels will be featured in the eight-week series for one-hour long like, Grand Hustle, Loud Records, Slip-N-Slide, Terror Squad, Ruff Ryders, Disturbing Tha Peace (DTP), and Murder Inc.

Founder, Andre Harrell will be among the industry insiders like, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, and Guy’s Teddy Riley and Damion Hall giving they’re unique takes on Uptown’s success, legacy, and so much more. We can expect to see some never-before-seen footage in an up close, first-person narrative kinda way. The series is executive produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions and DTP co-founders Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Bridges’ manager Chaka Zulu, and Jeff Dixon.

“The dreams and visions; the successes and failures … we want young aspiring entrepreneurs to have a blueprint as to what really goes on in this business and understand how much work it takes,” says DTP’s Dixon of the inspiration behind the series. “We [as African-Americans] also want to document our own history, especially in this industry. This is like our natural resource. No one can tell these stories like us.”

Young Thug and Young Dro go EDM on “Top Notch”

If there’s one thing we know, and love, about Young Thug, it’s his versatility. His ability to give you a variety of different styles (sometimes on just one record), is matched by very few, in any, in Hip-Hop, today.

Teaming up with Niko the Kid, Young Dro, and “Stoner” collaborator Dun Deal, Thugger digs into his EDM bag, for “Top Notch”.

The cover art kind of suggests that there might be more music on deck from Thug and Dun Deal, but who knows? What we do know is Slime Season 3 will be out February 5th. In the meantime, press play on “Top Notch”.

Stream T.I.’s new EP, “Da’ Nic”

After sending hints across social media, leaving fans in anticipation, T.I. decided to lace the streets with a brand new EP. The sound certainly steals our attention for the meantime, as we await The Dime Trap album in its entirety.

Having been given a taste of the music with “Check, Run It” the five track presentation upholds the go-hard theme, that only T.I. could bring us. Laced with distinctive bars and energizing beats, this is definitely worth a listen. Of course no project would be complete without ATL appearances, so Young Thug and Dro bring familiarity to the tone.
