What set’s CorMill apart from the crowd is his devotion to chasing two incredible careers: music and football. As a Division 1 (D1) football player, he previously played in major conferences like Sun Belt and SEC. Being destined for greatness, the Florida-native l didn’t even have a lot of time to make beats on top of studying late a night and attending practice. However, he still managed to stay relevant in the music industry with major placements for acts like Quando Rondo, Ty Dolla $ign, and Lil Mosey to point out a few.

CorMill’s most recent drop is a record with Olympian Sprinter Trayvon Brommell titled “Played With My Heart.” Amongst working many other staple artist, his next big placement will be on Joyner Lucas’ new album dropping in March, ADHD. Check out our extensive interview below.

Walk me through your childhood, what was it like growing up for you?

My childhood was kind of rough but at the time I didn’t even realize it. When I was young I was used to the lights getting cut off in our house, or always moving from house to house because we kept getting evicted. At that time I thought that was normal, but now looking back I realize that a lot of people had it better than us. However, I have nothing to complain about because there is always somebody that has ti worse than you. But my childhood keeps me humble and instilled the hunger and drive in me that I need to make it in this industry.

How would you compare and contrast living in Florida versus the Netherlands?

In my opinion the main difference is that I feel like Florida and America in general has a more competitive atmosphere. Everybody is trying to be successful and to be successful you need that jungle mentality. Either you’re going to be at the top or you get left at the bottom.

How did you initially gravitate to music and why did you choose producing?

I grew up around music, as a kid I played instruments and played in big musicals, so I was always musically inclined. But I didn’t really use my talent for a while until I got to high school. I remember looking at Lex Luger videos on YouTube and it make me want to start producing. My junior year I got introduced to FL Studio and started making beats. They started of trash but I kept working on my craft and improved the sound and quality of my beats drastically.

As far as inspiration goes, are there any artists or producers who paved the way for you?

Lex Luger, Kanye West and Pharrell inspired me to start producing beats. I never wanted to be in the spotlight so being a rapper or singer didn’t really fit my vision. With me being a producer I can stay low key and be myself. Meek Mill is another big inspiration of mine and that is where my producer name comes from. “Cor” are the first three letters of my real name, and the “Mill” was inspired by Meek Mill. So that how I came up with CorMill.

Talk to me about growing your YouTube channel that has nearly a quarter-million subscribers now.

There is no real secret when it comes to growing your YouTube channel. All it really takes is great quality beats and posting consistently. With me being a student athlete it kind of slowed down my channels growth since I didn’t always have time to make beats and post them. If it wasn’t for school and practice I probably would have been at 500K right now.

How did you make the final decision of becoming a music producer versus continuing football?

I am actually still playing football and that will always be my main focus. Producing music is just a hobby of mine I don’t see it as a job. Football is my life and main focus, so that will always be my number one.

Looking back on your career, who is the first notable artist you’ve worked with?

I would have to say Key Glock. I produced a song by him called “Can’t Lie” we were both teenagers and unknown at the time.

Lastly, what goals do you want to achieve within the next few years?

I want to receive my first Gold plaque this year. In addition, I want to produce a platinum song in the near future. I also want my name to be known worldwide kind of like what Metro Boomin’ did a few years ago. I also plan on opening up my own studio in the future.

There’s been some rather shocking revelations in Hip-Hop (and it’s only February), but this one is definitely the worst of them all. It’s being reported that Florida rising star YNW Melly was arrested and charged with the murder of his crew members Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams, 21, and Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr., 19.

Miramar Police are saying that the 19-year-old Melly — real name: Jamell Demons — killed the two while another member — Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry — helped stage the crime to make it look like a drive-by shooting. Melly’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, did speak on his client and the charges: “He’s sad, he’s upset, obviously… Those were his best friends.”

Following a documentary and a selective interview run, Future officially returns with a new album titled The WIZRD, his seventh. The project sees 20 tracks and appearances from Young Thug, Gunna and Travis Scott. Speaking with Rob Markman at Genius, he explained the meaning behind the title:

“My uncle used to always call me ‘the wizard’… Rest in peace, but that was his thing. He called me ‘the wizard’ and it was just showing love to him and dedicating the album to him and the name that he respected and I feel like I’ve worked for. I’ve worked to become everything he’s seeing before it even happened.”
