Photo Credit: Sony EntertainmentHip Hop’s southern wunderkind, YGTUT releases his second visual from his latest I.O.U. EP, “Mind Ya Business”. Directed by Gage McRae and song produced by D. Sanders, TUT emphasizes the need to stay in your own lane and business. Last month, the infamous preacher’s son released a playful video, “Get It”, about securing the bag and continuing to increase wealth. Four years passed since YGTUT’s breakout project, Preacher’s Son, dropped yet his cult following never wavered.

“This is only the beginning of 2019. This video for me was meant to be a lucid day dream. I want you all to make your own interpretation of its meaning,” says YGTUT.  With his heavily anticipated follow up album I Need $ near completion, TUT, aims to expand upon the unique southern bounce sound he has established.

Church raised in the rolling hills of Chattanooga, Tennessee, YGTUT is an established critically acclaimed rapper that invokes true southern swag. After co-founding “theHouse” with TDE’s Isaiah Rashad in 2010, TUT released his debut album, Preacher’s Son, which has received over 16 million streams.

Any Friday where we get treated to new YGTUT is a good Friday. Today, he’s back in the form of the new track “Keep It Cool,” produced by none other than KToven. The track is four and a half minutes of Tut giving you mad bars about icing his Lucas’ chain up, not hitting bad weed, and of course keeping it cool. KToven laced him with a banger of a beat, and TUT makes sure he takes it out the park.

TUT has been dropping more consistently these past few months, and hopefully that means a proper follow up to Preacher’s Son is on the horizon. 2018 will be a good year indeed if we receive that body of work. Until then, enjoy “Keep It Cool” above.

Anyday that we get a new YGTUT track is a good day. Today is one of those  good days. We’ve  patiently been awaiting the follow up to his amazing Preacher’s Son tape from years ago, and in the meantime he makes sure to let us know he’s still spitting from time to time.

“Sleazy Money” is a heatrock produced by Dave Savage, and TUT bodies it. In four minutes he talks about being from Chatanooga, and counting “Sleazy Money with residue on every dollar.” We hope this means that new TUT is on the horizon, but if not this will sure hold us over for the time being.

BIG KRIT 

The Mississippi native has proved countless times that he is a force to be reckoned over the years, however, many still haven’t gotten hip. His Southern tang is undoubtedly what sets him a part. Not only does Krit write all of his rhymes, as he mentioned before in countless songs, but he also produces most of his music as well. This month he released a mixtape, with a series of free styles, ranging from Erkyah Badu’s classic “Other Side of the Game” to Schoolboy Q’s “THat Part” that you can listen to for free on Soundcloud.

Bishop Nehru 

Working alongside the infamous MF DOOM, this 19 year old rapper from Nanuet, New York began his career at 13 years old. By 16 he had dropped his first mixtape, Nehruvia, with production from Madlib, MF Doom and many many more. Rapping over smooth jazz samples, he gives off a 90’s vibe and quite honestly has been beyond his time since he began his career. He’s received much support from Peter Rosenburg, the co-host for Ebro In The Morning, throughout his career. Nehru is still dropping new music and can also be found on Soundcloud and Spotify.

Bas 

Signed to J.Cole’s Dreamville Records and Interscope, Bas burst into the scene with his mixtape Quarter Water Raised Vol. 1  in 2013 followed by his first studio album Last Winter. This year he released his second album Too High to Riot and kicked his tour off on June 3rd. Bas is extremely lyrical, and much like his mentor, Cole, is excellent at telling relatable stories through his music. Whether it be witty, sad, or just the daily struggles.

Oddisee

An activist, producer and outstanding MC, Oddisee is a soulful artist that blends his passion of his culture and experiences in his music. The Maryland native has been rapping for sometime now, releasing mixtape after mixtape as well as performing on tours worldwide. In a recent video posted on his Twitter he stated “ I realize the very same thing that has me on tour right now (music) is my strongest weapon”. YGTUT 

Just a year ago, YGTUT debuted his mixtape Preachers Son. His voice is extremely distinct as he unfolds a story of growing up dealing with gun violence and gangs in his native Chattanooga, Tennessee, while also incorporating the soulful spiritual aspect of growing up in the church. Isaiah Rashad, who is also from Chattanooga, made a appearance on the tape, in the single “Sunday Service.“ Since then, Preachers Son has become available on iTunes, and he continues to drop new music as the Chattanooga native has a new project that is in the works.
