Clipse alumni Pusha T has become the protector of the G.O.O.D. Music brand in recent years. He has taken quite kindly to being both Kanye’s muscle and understudy and he gives the imprint some street credibility. The music has seemingly settled in as well, although not necessarily in a positive way; Pusha now seems much more susceptible to radio pressure, which at times detracts from his persona. His solo work, though, seems much truer to his Lord Willin’, Hell Hath No Fury roots and his “drug dealer Picassos,” as he calls them, have returned to prominence in his content. “Trust You,” off of his highly acclaimed mixtape Wrath of Caine, sees him deviate from his norm slightly, but in a way that seems natural, discussing his relationship with his #1 lady. With Kevin Gates’ hook, the song nears full-on ballad territory. Watch the visuals, directed by Matt Alonzo, below. Pusha T’s My Name Is My Name is set to be released later this year.

He’s going H.A.M on 11 new tracks featuring collaborations with Rick Ross, French Montana, Wale and many others. His hot production can be credited to Harry Fraud, Kanye West, The Neptunes, Young Chop, and a slew of talented others. Pusha T’s new mixtape Wrath of Caine drops tomorrow, but that isn’t stopping him giving us a taste of what’s to come. On “Only You Can Tell It” he teams up with fellow DMV rapper Wale to spit over the Boogz Da Beast produced track. Gotta give a lot of props to Boogz Da Beast for flipping that sample from English rock band Yes. Pusha and Wale deliver on their verses, and it will be interesting to see what else Pusha T has up his sleeve. His mixtape drops tomorrow, he was just announced to perform at Coachella, and he is still working on his debut album My Name is My Name.
