As we wait for Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, Sony blesses the world with an animated installment of everyone’s neighborhood hero with Into The Spider-Verse, which is out today. Added to that is of course the obligatory soundtrack, which features a plethora of Urban artists: Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla $ign, XXXTentacion, Post Malone, Swae Lee, Nicki Minaj, Vince Staples and more make notable appearances on the 13-track compilation.

After a lot of experimenting with music and dropping genre-bending cuts to the masses, Vic Mensa returns to some of the hardest Hip-Hop he’s made in recent times with his latest. Titled “Rowdy,” the track also features assistance from fellow Chicagoan G Herbo, adding to the track’s street feel.

On December 14th, Vic Mensa will deliver a new EP titled Hooligans. First, he breaks out an emo-Punk-esque single titled “Dark Things,” which is accompanied by a visual that was probably meant to drop on Halloween. The Chicago artist also explained what fans can expect from the EP (courtesy of Beats 1/Zane Lowe):

“‘Dark Things’ is something that I wanted to make to represent those dark edges and recesses of my mind. On the Hooligans EP I really just wanted to represent different energies to show different sides of me, so this is a dark side. There’s records that are more fun summertime energy. There’s fight songs. There’s a record man, called ‘Deserve It,’ that’s one of my favorite songs. It’s an anthem for self-worth that I wrote so I can’t wait for you all to hear that.”

Naturally, it received a pretty harsh response from most of Vic’s peers — especially given the fact that XXXTentacion’s mother was in the crowd to hear those bars. Following a pre-premiered response, the Chicago emcee has now delivered a new track titled “Empathy,” which sees his addressing the controversy head-on:

They say you shouldn’t cast stones from a glass home
The whole world wanna see me fall, but I stand strong
I say what’s right, but they don’t hear me ’cause my past wrongs
I got so down on my luck, I made it a dance song
Reflected that on the women I’ve loved and left, got a call from my ex
She forgive, but she can’t forget, sometimes I disrespect
I was just keeping it a stack but all of my good intentions turn into bad press…
