ABRA & Vashite on Top: New Video + New Lookbook

Today is definitely a great day for Awful Records’ Abra! Just minutes ago, the talented songstress decided to drop her interview with i-D Magazine as well her new video for her single “U Kno“ from her latest album Rose. The video was shot and directed by the very dope UNIF Clothing and features Abra in a bath tub with a very talented skater (who you can catch at Babylon in LA) named Lil Phillis. Not only is her unique video making wave but her “Roses” single was also featured in Vashtie’s latest self-directed lookbook for Puma (who’s collection is available now). It’s great to see these women making dope moves and progressing in a major way! This collab was unexpected but nonetheless being highly appreciated. Although we’re hoping to see more coming from these two, here’s a peek at the fire that’s taking place here and now. Enjoy!

Chris Brown Teams Up With Asics For Sneaker Collab

This year it seems as if the go-to sneakers have ranged from Saucony and Huaraches to Puma and Asics. Although it seems as if Puma has been on top of it lately collaborating with celebrities like Rihanna and Vashtie, they aren’t the only ones who are making moves. Recently, R&B superstar Chris Brown announced via Instagram that he would be collaborating with the highly versatile and color-way praised Asics. If you consider his dope artistic abilities, his raw taste in fashion, on top of his own personal sneaker style, this was definitely a match bound to happen. Whatever he decides to do with Asics, you can expect for it to be heat.

Vashtie x G-Shock Collaborate on an All Gold Watch

New York’s very own Downtown Sweetheart, Vashtie, has teamed up with G-Shock to release an all gold limited edition Violette timepiece. The collaboration watch, which is G-Shock’s first with a woman, was inspired by Vashtie’s love for all gold everything.

The watch features the inscriptions of the Violette logo on the band and Va$htie’s signature on the back of the case. The watch is available for purchase at G-Shock’s Soho location, Macy’s and Vashtie’s very own Violette. The watch comes with a free t-shirt baring Vashtie’s body when purchasing online.

New Music: Joey Bada$$ – 1999 Drops Tomorrow, Tracklist x Videos

Let’s revisit 1999, shall we? Mos Def’s Black On Both Sides, The Roots’ Things Fall Apart, Rawkus Records’ Soundbombing II, Pharoah Monche’ Internal Affairs, Eminem’s Slim Shady LP and Q-Tip’s Amplified were just a few seminal albums that helped usher in the new millennium.

17-year-old Joey Bada$$ is here to bring that boom-bap sound back to hip-hop. He has been co-signed by Vashtie, 9th Wonder and Mac Miller and is currently under management by Johnny Shipes (president of Cinematic Music Group, which manages Big K.R.I.T. and Smoke DZA). Joey’s music presents an introspective teenager with a mature mindset … perhaps that’s what happens when one doesn’t listen to the radio’s repetitive music.

Joey and his Pro Era camp are an incredible addition to the young New York hip-hop scene. His debut project 1999 has been delayed a few times, but the latest date is tomorrow (6/12). Peep a snippet of 1999′s tracklist and the vids below to check out some of his content, as well as a behind-the-scenes video called “Songs From Scratch.”
