Nick Walker‘s street work merges the freedom artists have when using spray cans with the technicality of stencils. He started playing around with stencils in 1992, allowing him to juxtapose photographic imagery to the rawness of graffiti. “I try to add an element of humour or irony to some paintings to add a little light relief to the walls,” he says. “Painting is a form of escapism for me and if my work allows the spectator to do the same thing, then I’ve achieved more than I set out to do.”

Walker often ironically uses the word “Vandal” in his own work.
