Singing sensation V Bozeman is the latest celebrity to speak out on behalf of the national #BlackLivesMatter movement in light of recent fatal police shootings involving black citizens, with a new song titled “Dear Officer.” The soul singer teams up with rap artist Young Lyfe and producer Rodney Jones, Jr. (Lil Rod) to unveil a heartfelt “letter” to law enforcement, with lyrics such as “Dear officer, will you let our husbands walk away, will you let our brothers live today, can our sons go outside to play. Dear officer, without getting shot up, even though they got their hands up…”

Marvin Bing, Creative Director at Art For Amnesty, sheds light on the significance of V Bozeman’s emotionally charged new song, “Music has long played a critical role in inspiring, mobilizing, and giving voice to the movement for black lives. The music and artists are playing a strong and vital role in the struggle for freedom. V continues to use her platform to continue that legacy. ‘Dear Officer’ gives the people a renewed courage and a sense of unity. I think it will inspire to keep alive a faith, a radiant hope, in this moment, particularly in our hopeless moment as a people,” Marvin explains.

V Bozeman, who recently performed at this year’s Essence Festival, takes pride in being a bold black woman and Los Angeles native, and is no stranger to taking to her social media to speak out on current race relations in America.

Empire actress and singer V.Bozeman isn’t just striking visually, she’s walking in her powerful purpose.

When The Museum of Light recently spoke to her at the “Road to BET Experience” concert at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, Bozeman explained that she wants to use her art to inspire.

“Nia Simone said it best,” the “What Is Love” songstress told The Museum of Light producer Billy Johnson Jr. “If you’re an artist on this platform and you don’t use it, what good are you? I’m from a humble beginning. … I know how vital that is.”

Bozeman doesn’t take her influence lightly. “Once people see us doing the right thing and using our gifts to being purposeful and helping the human condition it’s always a more powerful statement than just being a celebrity,” she said. “You have to remember that God gave you the gift so we are supposed to give it back. To help heal, to help mend, to help bring love and all those good great things.”

V.Bozeman, Bilal, and Tish Hyman Talk Alchemy at ‘BET Experience’ Kick-Off

Four thousand music fans attended the BET Experience at L.A. Live kick-off concert at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. The free concert headlined by platinum R&B princess Monica also featured sets from V.Bozeman, Bilal, Luke James and Tish Hyman.

The Museum of Light discussed alchemy with V.Bozeman, Bilal, and Tish Hyman. When asked if she considered herself an alchemist, the Empire actress and singer V.Bozeman reflected on inspirational words from late soul icon Nina Simone.

Bilal and Tish Hyman also explained their efforts to transform their art into works that inspire their listeners.

Singing sensation V Bozeman (Mosley Music Group) has been traveling city to city creating a soulful escape for crowds across the nation, alongside R&B greats Raheem DeVaughn and Leela James on “The Love ‘N Soul Experience” Tour. From the iconic Apollo Theater in New York City to Club Nokia in L.A. on the West Coast, V captivated thousands of new fans performing her hit single “What Is Love” which debuted on FOX’s hit show Empire.

Last week V had a surprise guest appearance made by her friend and fellow R&B sensation Timothy Bloom as they performed their sexy hit record “Til The End of Time” which has garnered over 2.5 million views.
