<p style="text-align: center;">Independent artists keep music exciting &amp; always remind us that there is so much talent in the world. Nowadays it is easy to get swamped with all the mainstream music that is out &amp; you often forget to take time out to discover some new sounds that&#8217;s where Unsigned Spotlight comes in. Sundays at Respect Magazine will now be dedicated to giving Unsigned artists the spotlight &amp; showcasing their talents. These artists will come from all over the country &amp; have various backgrounds but all their music will be unique in a way as they pave the way for the next wave of music. Enjoy!</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>1. G.U.N. &#8211; (@GUNMusic40)</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/GUN.jpg"><img decoding="async" data-attachment-id="108994" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/08/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-9/gun/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/GUN.jpg?fit=1600%2C1271&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="1600,1271" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="GUN" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/GUN.jpg?fit=1600%2C1271&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/GUN.jpg?fit=640%2C508&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-108994" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/GUN-640x508.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="GUN" width="640" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>G.U.N.</strong> is a fresh sound out of Dallas. With high energy and a distinct voice, his music commands attention as it blasts through the speakers. He&#8217;s been picking up fans quickly and shows good signs of providing us with solid music consistently.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">My biggest goal to accomplish was really just to become a leader on the forefront for the Dallas music scene, to really improve, bring Dallas up, and I&#8217;ve definitely accomplished that now it&#8217;s just about elevating the situation to make it easier for all DFW artist.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I hope my music touches all the real people that&#8217;s been through what I&#8217;ve been through that really relate to me. Honestly just want to make people move in any place they are from having they headphones in, walking through stores, to being in the house chilling.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your </strong><strong>own sound?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I call my sound street symphony&#8230;lol got a lot of melody in my sound. I&#8217;m very versatile so I can give you real rap to Post Malone type music to R&amp;B to Waka. I cover all basis.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">The biggest lesson I&#8217;ve learned from making music is stay humble no matter what, stay patient no matter what, and never give up and strive for it to create discipline. Also coming from my situation, it taught me to have way more faith in God. Prayer is the key to be honest.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F201333126&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&color=ff5500"></iframe></p>
<hr />
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>2. Mic Kellogg &#8211; (@MicKellogg)</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/MicKellogg.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="108997" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/08/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-9/mickellogg/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/MicKellogg.jpg?fit=640%2C603&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="640,603" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="MicKellogg" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/MicKellogg.jpg?fit=640%2C603&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/MicKellogg.jpg?fit=640%2C603&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-108997" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/MicKellogg-640x603.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="MicKellogg" width="640" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"> The Midwest has a new eccentric talent on their hands with <strong>Mic Kellogg</strong>. The good-spirited artist has build a brief yet high-quality catalog of music with witty lyrics and use of harmonies. His sound is really one of a kind and he has the talent to use a variety of styles to craft his songs.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"> 2015 has already been a whirlwind for me. The rest of the year will definitely be spent promoting my LP, &#8220;Breakfast&#8221; that drops on 9/13. I want to release a few visuals off the album before the year is over too. Otherwise I&#8217;m really focused on doing local shows for the rest of the year &amp; Working with local artists. Just building the talent Milwaukee has to offer.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">I hope my music gives listeners the message of RELAXATION. Everyday life is so fast and busy. You should be able to throw on my tunes after a long day, smoke a doob, pour up some OJ and just chill tf out. There&#8217;s also a lot of very personal stories and aspects in my music. I want people to relate, so it can help them through their own struggles.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your </strong><strong>own sound?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">I&#8217;d describe my sound as a hot stack of French toast.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">With weed butter melted all over it. And weed syrup too&#8230;. If that&#8217;s a thing.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">Biggest lesson I&#8217;ve learned this far is that HARD WORK WILL PAY OFF. This LP has been over a year in the making&#8230;.I&#8217;ve written and produced every track with all attention towards the smallest details. Now the first thing I&#8217;m ever releasing is premiering on Pigeons and Planes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"> Just doing things right the first time. And not half assing it&#8230;.Is key.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"></div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><iframe loading="lazy" width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F216157359&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&color=ff5500"></iframe></div>
<div></div>
<hr />
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>3. Caleborate &#8211; (@Caleborate)<br />
</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Caleborate.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="108998" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/08/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-9/caleborate/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Caleborate.jpg?fit=640%2C400&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="640,400" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;2.8&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;Engel Ching&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;Canon EOS 6D&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;1436650475&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;24&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;1000&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0.016666666666667&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="Caleborate" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Caleborate.jpg?fit=640%2C400&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Caleborate.jpg?fit=640%2C400&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-108998" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Caleborate-640x400.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="Caleborate" width="640" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Bay Area representative, <strong>Caleborate</strong> is a fresh sound with a knack for awesome rhymes. His talent has been noticed and his fanbase is on the rise. The West Coast artist blends storytelling with clever rhymes and floats over smooth production.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">This year I hope to get my music out to a larger audience. I think the biggest thing I want to do before the year is over is work with a major artist who has influenced my sound and influenced my life though. Among wanting to perform at large events and meet a bunch of people who are influential I mostly just want to make some great music with artists that I revere.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">I hope that my music strikes a chord with listeners. I just want my music to reach them at points of their lives where they may need that sort of relatable and honest music. There have been times in my life (many times) where the only thing that saved me was my faith and music. I just want for my music to impact someone like that. The way that &#8220;The Internet&#8221; impacted me with Feel Good or the way that King Krule impacted me with &#8220;6 Feet Beneath the Moon&#8221;. I think that once you make that sort of connection with music, or an artist at that, you&#8217;ll hold allegiance to them for a lifetime, I want people to feel that for me and my art.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your </strong><strong>own sound?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">I would describe my sound as eclectic, alternative, instrumental, wavy, smooth all that shit. It&#8217;s just hella good to be honest. In my opinion at least. I listen to my own shit sometimes and it has so many different flavors, and so many different vibes it&#8217;s just like man. It can&#8217;t be put into a box, it&#8217;s just like me. It&#8217;s on some Gemini shit, one day it could be one thing, the next day it could be another, all I can assure is that it&#8217;s gonna be dope regardless lol.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">I&#8217;ve learned a few very important lessons, the biggest one for me is understanding that this shit takes time. Anything that&#8217;s worth holding onto don&#8217;t come quick, so be willing to put that work in. Be willing to grind, be willing to sacrifice to get what you believe you deserve. It&#8217;s like Dom say; &#8220;you work hard, get what you deserve&#8230;.&#8221; So that&#8217;s how I look at shit, this shit ain&#8217;t easy and nobody is gonna hand it to you. Ain&#8217;t no one way in you try and fail. Peace.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"></div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><iframe loading="lazy" width="100%" height="450" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F138038471&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&color=ff5500"></iframe></div>
<hr />
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>4. Yohannes &#8211; (@YohannesMusic)<br />
</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Yohannes.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="108999" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/08/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-9/yohannes/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Yohannes.jpg?fit=746%2C746&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="746,746" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="Yohannes" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Yohannes.jpg?fit=746%2C746&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Yohannes.jpg?fit=640%2C640&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-108999" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Yohannes-640x640.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="Yohannes" width="640" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Yohannes</strong> blends R&amp;B &amp; Hip-Hop in his own way for his distinct sound. The Grand Rapids artist provides us with compelling tunes and is good at providing us with catchy lyrics. He&#8217;s not afraid to play with a wide variety of sounds and adds an exciting factor to his music.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">The big goal I wanted to meet this year was to get 100,000 SoundCloud plays. We just did that. So now it&#8217;s on to a million and more. We want to continue to give great music to people.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I want my listeners to know one thing when they hear my music, and that&#8217;s that their point of view is a good one.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your </strong><strong>own sound?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">My sound is really just my how I feel music should sound. My rendition of the world. What I&#8217;m doing shouldn&#8217;t be labeled yet. Just know we&#8217;re going to push the envelope. Let&#8217;s keep listening.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">The biggest lesson I&#8217;ve learned this year would be to believe in your team and yourself. Everything will work for everyone if you continue to create and share.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><iframe loading="lazy" width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F209600231&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&color=ff5500"></iframe></p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>wifisfuneral</strong> comes out of Florida with an energetic, uptempo sound. His lyrics are charged up and his flows come with entertaining rhymes and ad-libs. The Florida talent has done well crafting his sound and has shown his ability to provide various sounds. He keeps new material coming out consistently and has proven to hold a solid work ethic. Get in tune.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">The biggest goal I hope to accomplish in 2015 is honestly just to make sure I&#8217;m at a platform with my music where it&#8217;s being heard in places I thought it&#8217;d never be heard in. I wanna have people of all races/genders and all that shit just fuck with it if they like it.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">A message I would want to give my listeners when they listen to my music is just to be them. The easier you find it is just to be yourself and just be honest with yourself about the shit you did then fuck everything else.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your </strong><strong>own sound?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">I&#8217;d describe my music as just honesty if that make any sense? I look at my music as me just telling my story about my life in the most honest way possible. I couldn&#8217;t just hop on a mic and spit some shit I think is hard. I gotta feel it.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">Biggest lesson I&#8217;ve leaned in music is trust no one, and I&#8217;ll leave it at that.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"></div>

<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>2. IshDARR &#8211; (@ishDARR)</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/artworks-000122359867-1e7nyv-t500x500.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="107042" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/08/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-8/artworks-000122359867-1e7nyv-t500x500/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/artworks-000122359867-1e7nyv-t500x500.jpg?fit=500%2C500&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="500,500" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="artworks-000122359867-1e7nyv-t500x500" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/artworks-000122359867-1e7nyv-t500x500.jpg?fit=500%2C500&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/artworks-000122359867-1e7nyv-t500x500.jpg?fit=500%2C500&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-107042" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/artworks-000122359867-1e7nyv-t500x500.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="artworks-000122359867-1e7nyv-t500x500" width="640" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>IshDARR</strong> comes out of the Midwest with feel-good energy and a nice blend of sounds. He describes himself as a young spirit with an old soul and his music is a testimony to that. The Milwaukee artist&#8217;s lyrics give us his life perspective as his abstract production gives him a sound of his own. Having shown us rhyming abilities and some vocal showcases, his sound only gets better.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">The biggest goal i hope to make for 2015 is making a name for my city musically wise, or at least start to build one. I feel we have talent that is slept on so us kids are going to be heard one way or another.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I hope my music gives listeners faith that dreams can turn reality quickly if you put your mind to it. Once you put your mind to it, it gradually just takes off and before you know it you have a bunch of people vibing with you and wanting more.I want to make sure my music stays pure and touches the people.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your </strong><strong>own sound?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I would describe my sound as unique and always growing. I am still finding my own sound by various ways. Playing with voice tones and melodies as well as keeping it all HipHop. My sound is not complete at all yet, and hope to only improve it. I do not want to be stuck in a box of one sound especially that is not true to me so I am working on that every day until im comfortable and find my main sound. I just do however I&#8217;m feeling right now.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">The biggest lesson I learned about making music is that to stay relevant you have to just remain true yourself. The people love you more if your being you instead of trying to be someone else. I like singing and doing melodies and shit, but some times I just want to get on Talib Kweli shit and murder with the facts. Its something many artist just forget once they get some attention but I know where my roots are at and how all this music started for me.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>3. Messiah Da Rapper &#8211; (@MessiahDaRapper)</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/iVUpWX7A.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="107043" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/08/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-8/ivupwx7a/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/iVUpWX7A.jpg?fit=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="400,400" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="iVUpWX7A" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/iVUpWX7A.jpg?fit=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/iVUpWX7A.jpg?fit=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-107043" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/iVUpWX7A.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="iVUpWX7A" width="640" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Messiah Da Rapper</strong> comes out of the South and is bringing back that smooth sound. As a self-proclaimed pimp, Messiah keeps it real and infuses his lyrics with real life situations and plenty of games. His laid-back flow adds to his sound as he represents as part of the Southern Playas.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">My biggest goal was the Release of my mixtape #SweetTooth.  I had already gained to notoriety of being a rapper but this tape was to show the people and the fans what I was bringing to the table</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">My listeners need to know that they&#8217;re dealing with a renaissance man&#8230;I can do it all. I know, because I have.  In life and in music, I provide the sound that any and everyone can relate to. And at the end of a day wit me, you&#8217;ll understand. It&#8217;s about PIMPIN LIFE . Don&#8217;t let it Pimp you.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your </strong><strong>own sound?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">SOUTHERN. I&#8217;m a Kountry boi, cool as a fan, sharp as a tack, real smooth though. Laid back like a recliner . You hear me and say &#8220;that&#8217;s a cool dude right there.&#8221;</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Uhh I think my biggest lesson is uhh&#8230;making the music I WANT TO MAKE and how I want to make it. Not worrying so much on what I think wants to be heard. Ya know, like I&#8217;m myself on every track. What I display is who I am on an everyday basis. For the longest I tried to change my style of rap because of certain comparison and voice similarities that have been mentioned . But I had to understand that this is me. This is my sound.  There&#8217;s no changing or altering that. So to sum it up, my biggest lesson was making sure I was being myself and perfecting my sound.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><iframe loading="lazy" src="http://www.datpiff.com/embed/mbe902a2/" width="525" height="270" frameborder="0"></iframe></p>
<hr />
<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>4. GABRL &#8211; (@GABRL954)</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>GABRL</strong> is a Florida talent that is packed with variety. He has the ability to provide us with an R&amp;B sound but can also lace us with quality rhymes. The emerging artist continues to provide music that ranges in styles and is a great songwriter. As he continues to build on his sound, the music continues to get better and better.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">Solidly my fan base so somebody could put me on tour next year.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">Don&#8217;t be flaw. If you don&#8217;t know what that means, Be what you say you&#8217;re about.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your </strong><strong>own sound?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">I saw somebody say they feel like they&#8217;re at the &#8220;Trap circus&#8221; when they listen to my song &#8220;Who&#8221; so I thought that was interesting. I don&#8217;t really have a specific sound, if you listen to my tape it&#8217;s pretty diverse.</div>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: center;">If you do this cuz you want to be famous and have money you&#8217;ll probably end up quitting before you really get anywhere.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"></div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><iframe loading="lazy" width="100%" height="450" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F129641639&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&color=ff5500"></iframe></div>

<p>Independent artists keep music exciting &amp; always remind us that there is so much talent in the world. Nowadays it is easy to get swamped with all the mainstream music that is out &amp; you often forget to take time out to discover some new sounds that&#8217;s where <strong>Unsigned Spotlight</strong> comes in. Sundays at <strong>Respect Magazine</strong> will now be dedicated to giving Unsigned artists the spotlight &amp; showcasing their talents. These artists will come from all over the country &amp; have various backgrounds but all their music will be unique in a way as they pave the way for the next wave of music. Enjoy!</p>
<p><strong>1. Tray Pizzy &#8211; (@TrayPizzy)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/TrayPizzy.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="105609" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/07/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-7/traypizzy/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/TrayPizzy.jpg?fit=2500%2C1667&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="2500,1667" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="TrayPizzy" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/TrayPizzy.jpg?fit=2500%2C1667&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/TrayPizzy.jpg?fit=640%2C427&amp;ssl=1" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/TrayPizzy-640x427.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="TrayPizzy" width="640" height="400" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-105609" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Tray Pizzy</strong> comes out of the Bronx with a charged up sound &#038; quality lyricism. The NY spitter gives us street grit but also shows his ability to put together a more mainstream single. His Bronx influence is clear in his music but his ability to handle flows &#038; different types of production show that he&#8217;s in a class of his own. Get in tune with Tray Pizzy here. </p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>I just wanna finish my next project and get that out to the people as soon as possible.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>I don&#8217;t even think I have a message. I&#8217;m just giving my life and hoping people find it interesting.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>Growing. My sound is not regionalized but you can still tell where I&#8217;m from, it&#8217;s just me.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>Your grind has to match your talent.</p>

<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>I hope to reach a lot of ears and perform on the biggest stages. </p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>That they are not alone, I plan to grow with my audience so I want to show growth of a human in all areas including raw emotions, maturing, and the shift of priorities. </p>
<p><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>I would describe my music as a motion picture that&#8217;s available in all setting. All you must do is close your eyes to see it. It&#8217;ll be a new screening with new scenes each show. </p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve learned that no matter how much you don&#8217;t want to be an role model you will be. Recently I&#8217;ve started to take responsibility for my influence.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/204103848&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false"></iframe></p>
<p><strong>3. Danny Boy &#8211; (@YesImDano)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Danny-Boy.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="105616" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/07/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-7/danny-boy/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Danny-Boy.jpg?fit=682%2C1024&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="682,1024" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="Danny Boy" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Danny-Boy.jpg?fit=682%2C1024&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Danny-Boy.jpg?fit=640%2C961&amp;ssl=1" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Danny-Boy-640x961.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="Danny Boy" width="640" height="400" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-105616" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p>Coming out of Brooklyn, Danny Boy brings us a concise flow &#038; lays down smooth rhymes. His lyrics come with a personal touch that always makes his music ride. With a growing collection of music, Danny Boy&#8217;s wave is building &#038; he only continues to grow. Get hip to the Brookyln upstart.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>I want to expose people to Me, my City and my label, East Chain, as much as possible. It&#8217;s so much more to not only Brooklyn, but New York in a while that people don&#8217;t really get exposed to and I want to give the world the most authentic Material possible. Same goes for myself, a lot of people know me for a certain vibe, a certain sentiment, and I been through a lot in life as well as growing as an artist since as of late and I want to reintroduce the world to Danny Boy. </p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>I want them to fall in love with my realness. I pride myself on the fact that I only speak on topics I&#8217;ve either researched or lived through. You won&#8217;t hear any fabrications in my work and I hope that inspires people to not only be real with the world but be real with themselves as well. I think the state of the world right now is weird and majority of our generation feels like they gotta put on a certain image in order to survive or be accepted. I want everybody to know it&#8217;s okay to like what you like, do what you do and either people gone relate and respect it or neglect it and that just means those not your type of people. Everybody can be great in their own way doing it their own way. Period </p>
<p><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s a bunch of everything in my eyes. I lived a bunch of places rich with music history. From Brooklyn, got roots in Chicago and spent a couple years in Atlanta and got real connected with the music down there. I keep organic when I&#8217;m creating though. As cliche as it sounds I don&#8217;t go in with the idea on making a &#8220;Type&#8221; track. Everybody on the Label had their own sound and we encourage each other to push our identities so it comes out as real as possible. I feel like I can finesse any beat so I don&#8217;t shy away from any challenging sounds. You gone get your conscious songs and you gone get your trap raps where I&#8217;m stacking and whipping and flipping. Just depends on what mood I&#8217;m in. </p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>That the music business and business of making music and being an artist are two totally different things. It really ain&#8217;t no friends in this game, you might think somebody fuck with you but most times their just opportunities or energy vultures. It&#8217;s hard to tell who&#8217;s genuine and most of it is just smoke and mirrors. I learned that staying to myself and my team is the best route cause when you try to be cool with everybody, show everybody love, people take that as weakness and you set yourself up to let others dictate your life. I also learned that there is no &#8220;Right Way&#8221; to do it. Doing you is going to get you way farther than mirroring what&#8217;s hot right now because trends always die, but if you stay true to yourself, everybody won&#8217;t love you but you&#8217;ll have that one kid that can relate to every song because he&#8217;s going through it and that means way more than having 1 million niggas fake love you cause you a trendy gimmick.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/215945543&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false"></iframe></p>
<p>4. Larry June &#8211; (@LarryJuneTFM)</p>
<div id="attachment_105617" style="width: 650px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Larry-June-2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-105617" data-attachment-id="105617" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/07/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-7/processed-with-vscocam-with-hb2-preset-5/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Larry-June-2.jpg?fit=685%2C514&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="685,514" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 preset&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;Copyright 2015. <p>Larry June is rolling out of the West Coast with roots in Atlanta &#038; he&#8217;s coming fast. His sound comes with heavy punchlines, trademark ad-libs, &#038; unorthodox flows. The Free Minded x OGG artist is good for giving us anthems &#038; his collection keeps to build. As we get more music &#038; Larry continues to show us his sound stay tuned. </p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>Opening up a Whole Foods would be great. I shop at Whole Foods frequently &#038; it&#8217;s addressed in my raps.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>Move smart and stay ready so you don&#8217;t have to get ready and last but not least never major in minor things.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>Electrifying.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>Have patience.</p>

Michael Aristotle &#8211; (@MikeyAristotle)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/pastor-troy-show-3-resized.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="102515" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/07/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-6/pastor-troy-show-3-resized/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/pastor-troy-show-3-resized.jpg?fit=800%2C533&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="800,533" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;6.3&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;Canon EOS REBEL T3i&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;1424173819&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;25&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;1600&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0.033333333333333&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="pastor troy show 3 &amp;#8211; resized" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/pastor-troy-show-3-resized.jpg?fit=800%2C533&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/pastor-troy-show-3-resized.jpg?fit=640%2C426&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-102515" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/pastor-troy-show-3-resized-640x426.jpg?resize=600%2C400" alt="pastor troy show 3 - resized" width="600" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p>Get in tune with <strong>Michael Aristotle</strong>. One of the shining talents coming out of Atlanta, Michael comes with a focused sound, quality lyricism, &amp; music for various situations. The East Chain representative continues to show us why he should be on your radar as he keeps getting better &amp; better. Along with his Q&amp;A, Michael Aristotle also PREMIERES his new single &#8220;Light SKin Keisha.&#8221; Listen here:</p>
<p><strong>-What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>To be bigger than i was last year honestly. I feel like when getting into this music industry, it never stops, you&#8217;re always expected to release new material and do new things so it&#8217;s all about growing. Growing is the coolest part, because you see your transition and learn from it all. I just want to be as great as I can be, and then try to top that.</p>
<p><strong>-What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;m not a role model or spokesperson for this so i wouldn&#8217;t be totally sure. I just like telling my story. Everyone has their own story and things that make them unique as a human in general so i&#8217;m just one of us telling my story hoping it can be the soundtrack to somebody life, if they take a good message from it then that&#8217;s cool too.</p>
<p><strong>-How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>The sound is so life based. Me and my brother Wili Hendrixs really make music based on a setting or vibe of that day. We can never force ourselves to make a certain song, we just use life as that inspiration and pick from it. But to be technical, lol the sound varies alot i&#8217;m really into pads &amp; cowbells, 808s, Hi-Hats and basically southern drum patters under weird west-coast feeling sounds maybe or even east coast fused with southern it mixes alot, never one particular sound. it&#8217;s so hard to explain. i&#8217;m the worst with that.</p>
<p><strong>-What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s totally normal and okay to fuck up. the most important thing is to take your time with it. something can always get better, its ok to get a perfect recording take and then do 100 more takes to make it better. take your time with your music and every aspect from videos to releasing, and just really presenting it. treat it like precious art cause it&#8217;s your art of course. be patient. Law 35, master the art of timing (48 laws of power).<br />

<p><strong>2. Madeintyo &#8211; (@MDNTOKYO)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/a3havqZm.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="102516" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/07/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-6/a3havqzm/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/a3havqZm.jpg?fit=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="400,400" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="a3havqZm" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/a3havqZm.jpg?fit=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/a3havqZm.jpg?fit=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-102516" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/a3havqZm.jpg?resize=600%2C400" alt="a3havqZm" width="600" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Madeintyo</strong> brings us a trap-influenced sound that is backed by his original ad-libs &amp; witty lyricism. The Private Club member has given us quality singles &amp; is catching attention very fast. As Madeintyo picks up steam, he looks to stay focused on the music &amp; has more on the way.</p>
<p><strong>-What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>I have too many goals.</p>
<p><strong>-What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>I don&#8217;t have one message. With every song there&#8217;s a different message.</p>

<p><strong>1. Clay James &#8211; (@WhoIsClayJames)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/FullSizeRender.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="97402" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/05/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-5/fullsizerender/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/FullSizeRender.jpg?fit=635%2C638&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="635,638" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="FullSizeRender" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/FullSizeRender.jpg?fit=635%2C638&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/FullSizeRender.jpg?fit=635%2C638&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-97402" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/FullSizeRender.jpg?resize=640%2C640" alt="FullSizeRender" width="640" height="640" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Clay James</strong> aka The Prince Of The South comes out of Atlanta by way of Savannah with his own wave of music. Sticking to his Southern roots, he supplies us with a high fashion taste backed by his player lyrics &amp; charismatic flow. His music is filled with heavy lyricism &amp; he has shown us that he can handle various types of productions. His movement continues to evolve &amp; his future is looking bright.</p>
<p><strong>1. What&#8217;s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>I want to have a video in rotation on MTV. I just feel like once the world see what I&#8217;m offering to the hip-hop game and the fact I&#8217;m showing another side to &#8220;southern rap&#8221; music, I think I will become a superstar.</p>
<p><strong>2. What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>I hope my listeners get inspired from my music. I&#8217;ve faced a lot of adversity growing up and as an artist in the industry and I still keep achieving things that only a few people from my town (Savannah Ga) I have been able to accomplish. I want my listeners to see thru my struggle that anything is possible long as you believe in yourself!</p>
<p><strong>3. How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>Traditional southern sound, with a modern and innovative twist. My tone and accent and subject matter is similar to the southern rap music of the past but me being an artist thriving in 2015 I&#8217;m able to give you the sound from a more modern perspective. From a perspective of the southern kid that is from the hood, went to college, and was able to experience a whole another side of southern living come from a small town to the city of Atlanta. All this contributes to my sound.</p>
<p><strong>4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>Not to put so much trust in other people when it comes to handling your career. No one else is gonna move with a sense of urgency pertaining to your career like you will. And waiting on others to do what you can be doing yourself is only gonna slow you down and that can be the difference between you making it and not making it in this game.</p>

<p><strong>2. ReQ Cartier &#8211; (@ReQCartier)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ReQ.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="97403" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/05/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-5/req/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ReQ.jpg?fit=570%2C934&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="570,934" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="ReQ" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ReQ.jpg?fit=570%2C934&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ReQ.jpg?fit=570%2C934&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-97403" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ReQ.jpg?resize=600%2C600" alt="ReQ" width="600" height="600" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>ReQ Cartier</strong> out of Brooklyn comes with a nice skill set &amp; a knack for putting together some great music. The Bed-Stuy upstart has been making moves for a minute now &amp; his growth is evident in every release. Always putting on for where he&#8217;s from, ReQ plans to bring a new voice to New York &amp; fills his music with various elements. Get in tune.</p>
<p><strong>1. What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>Currently, my biggest goal for 2015 is to breakout on the indie scene and make people aware of ReQ Cartier. Within the last 2 years, my team and I have worked to create a buzz for myself along with The Suite Life brand throughout New York City. Now everything is coming full circle and its time to get my name buzzing on the national indie scene and not just the local.</p>
<p><strong>2. What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>I want people to understand my story. When people hear my music, I need them to learn who I am. Every song I reference where I&#8217;m from by saying &#8220;Brooklyn&#8221; or &#8220;Bed-Stuy&#8221;. I&#8217;m proud of where I came from. Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York made me who I am. I believe that listeners can see I&#8217;ve been through some stuff &amp; learned from it. Hopefully they can take from my story and apply what they learned to theirs. Music helps people evolve in life, believe it or not&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>3. How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>My sound is pretty unique in my opinion. I don&#8217;t sound like a New York rapper, which is a good thing. When I first started rapping in 2002, I said that I would polish my flow before I decided to be serious and make a career out of this. Polished to the point where I&#8217;m deemed versatile and you can&#8217;t tell Im from New York. Then I added singing to the mix. I listen to a lot of artists who are versatile. You look at artists such as Drake and Tory Lanez; These guys switch things up so much, you never know what to expect. And if they happen to throw mediocre material out, you get disappointed because you&#8217;re so used to being shocked and amazed. That&#8217;s the same feeling I want people to have for me. My sound is so different from your average new york artist. I can give you the punchlines and gritty aggression. But then I can harmonize or sing a hook and even the fellas are rocking with it.</p>
<p><strong>4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>Music is a business. Treat it like a hobby and you&#8217;ll never make it. As soon you decide that you want to seriously do music, you become a brand. Therefore, you must carry yourself like a brand. It&#8217;s more than just making music and putting it on the internet. You gotta learn all aspects of this industry. Books, Google &amp; Youtube are your best friends. Learning the business side of the music industry will help you in the long run. A lot of these artists don&#8217;t know about copyright, Soundscan, ASCAP or BMI. Thats not even 1% of the stuff an artists needs to know to prosper the right way. I&#8217;ve been doing this for about 13 years. Studying the game. Met a lot of people. Seen a lot of people blow up. Seen even more do nothing. I just studied and learned from it all. Then applied it within the last 2 years. Now it&#8217;s time to work. I&#8217;m still learning as the days go by. And everything I learn, I pass it off to my team because nobody else is gonna teach them. Artists usually get on and tell you &#8220;work hard&#8221; and that&#8217;s it. That&#8217;s not real words for the upcoming artists. We gotta properly tell each other how to succeed. That&#8217;s what I&#8217;m doing. Learn the game. Research, study and apply. The Suite Life.</p>

<p><strong>3. Money Makin&#8217; Nique &#8211; (@MoneyMakinNique)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/MMN.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="97404" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/05/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-series-5/mmn/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/MMN.jpg?fit=640%2C960&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="640,960" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="MMN" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/MMN.jpg?fit=640%2C960&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/MMN.jpg?fit=640%2C960&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-97404" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/MMN-640x960.jpg?resize=640%2C600" alt="MMN" width="640" height="600" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Money Makin&#8217; Nique</strong> comes rumbling out of Atlanta in his own lane &amp; a hard-hitting sound. Fueled with real-life material on his records &amp; heavy punchlines, he shows us that he has what it takes to be a force in this industry. With so much music coming out of Atlanta, it&#8217;s refreshing to hear someone not get caught up in the popular sound. His music speaks for itself &amp; it&#8217;s going to be exciting to continue to watch him grow.</p>
<p><strong>1. What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>My biggest goal is to put my team in a better position in terms of livelihood. I&#8217;m the type of person that functions better when the people around me are happy. It makes my job easier.</p>
<p><strong>2.What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>To pay attention and to make my presence felt. Without tryna sound too deep. I love perspective. So I try to cater to everybody musically in a specific way, but in a way that only I can do it. Never sounding out of character. always sounding like me. Regardless of what it is.</p>
<p><strong>3. How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>In 3 words. Colorful. Vivid. and Lyrical</p>
<p><strong>4.What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>Do it yourself. No risk, no reward</p>

<p><strong>4. Hodgie &#8211; (@HodgieXVII)</strong></p>

<p>Born and raised in Lima, OH currently residing in Columbus, OH, <strong>Hodgie</strong> started his musical career in 2001 and has made a name for himself in the Midwest music scene throughout the years. Hodgie has ghost written for different industry artists and was first noticed by R&amp;B singer Ginuwine in 2005. His music shows his signature style &amp; his conscious sound. He gets better &amp; better as he progresses in the industry.</p>
<p><strong>1. What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>I definitely want to increase visibility for me and my brand, but I really want to continue to grow as an artist. I know I have a lot to say and you can only get so much out in a record. I definitely want to show the world what Ohio has to offer on the Hip-Hop side. If I had it my way, I&#8217;d be a house hold name before the years up, but I&#8217;m willing to get there the same way I got here. Step by step. No handouts. Don&#8217;t get me wrong though, putting my momma in a new crib is really my motivation. So growing my brand, spreading my music and remaining the same while being able to take care of my loved ones is the goal.</p>
<p><strong>2. What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>My music is all about going out and making your dreams a reality. This world isn&#8217;t really gonna hand nothing to you so you have to be the deciding factor in your own happiness. It&#8217;s about going hard, trying to do right by your people and making the people around you happy. I hope my listeners are inspired to not take no for an answer. All things are possible but it&#8217;s up to you. Success is what you make it, and we all have the ability to make our dreams come true. Just hold your head and keep pushing.</p>
<p><strong>3. How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>My sound is a product of Ohio and the midwest. Your gonna get witty lyricism, as well as catchy hooks and stories. Being that Ohio is a melting pot, we&#8217;re influenced by a lot of different culture. I grew up listening to Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay Z, Bone, Snoop and Dre, Project Pat, UGK, Outkast and many more. We got to take in all that flavor without having a coastal bias so your gonna get some of that in my music. On my debut album &#8220;American Dreamin&#8221; I also made it a point to incorporate some of the Ohio legends whose sound has had a big influence in music period. That includes mixing in Bootsy Collins &#8220;I&#8217;d Rather Be With You&#8221; and Zapp &amp; Roger &#8220;More Bounce to the Ounce&#8221;. My sound is Ohio.</p>
<p><strong>4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s been quite the learning experience for me over the years. I&#8217;d say the biggest thing was learning how to be patient, and how to operate with tunnel vision. This game is unforgiving and timing is everything. You have to be able to stay productive and visible while waiting for that window of opportunity. I&#8217;ve definitely learned how to stay patient, and focused at the same time. I&#8217;ve never wanted to get caught up in what others around me are doing, so having tunnel vision on my goals has allowed me to stay patient for better or worse. Things don&#8217;t happen overnight, but when that time comes you can&#8217;t drop the ball. Learning how to balance patience and the outside influence has turned me into a monster.</p>

<p><strong>1. Wordsmiff &#8211; (@_WordSmiff_)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/wordsmiff-headshot.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="94622" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/04/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-week-4/wordsmiff-headshot/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/wordsmiff-headshot.jpg?fit=262%2C393&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="262,393" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="wordsmiff headshot" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/wordsmiff-headshot.jpg?fit=262%2C393&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/wordsmiff-headshot.jpg?fit=262%2C393&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-94622" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/wordsmiff-headshot.jpg?resize=500%2C500" alt="wordsmiff headshot" width="500" height="500" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p>Coming out of New York, <strong>Wordsmiff</strong> comes with strong delivery &amp; plenty of bars at all times. Wordsmiff carries the ability to switch up between conscious records &amp; can also have fun with his music. The talented lyricist has constantly been releasing good music &amp; continues to show us the extent of his artistry.<br />
<strong><br />
1. What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>My biggest goal is just to expand my sound and fan base. I try not to set too many goals and just let things flow organically, because everything we do is grassroots. Takes a little longer that way. As long as I keep creating and marketing how I am, the music will get me where I need to be. If I ever hit a wall, I&#8217;ve always adjusted and got around it to move forward. With all that being said, as I said before, the goal is to simply expand the fanbase and sound. Probably try some new things and switch the live show up. Really just tweaking the small things so that when the big things happen I&#8217;m prepared for it.</p>
<p><strong>2. What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>The message I want to give the listeners is just to not let people box you in. I may not say the message directly in my music all the time, but if you pay attention I live it. I do so many things sonically that people aren&#8217;t sure what to categorize me as. Which to me, is perfect. I&#8217;ve lived most of my life boxed in by outside expectations. I&#8217;m just trying to show you can get anywhere you want to be if that&#8217;s what you&#8217;re passionate in. Regardless of what your parents, friends, coworkers, and love ones say, do you. I&#8217;m promoting positive thinking, living life however YOU see fit and just showing the world how fuckin dope you are. Fuck it. Utilize every tool, talent, or passion you have.<br />
<strong><br />
3. How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>I think I got ahead of myself that last question because that kind of wraps it up, but I&#8217;d describe it as whatever you want to hear. I make music for everybody so its hard to describe my sound. I have that classic hip hop sound, then I have that neo soul sound, I have a little trap, and I have the modern sounding records so it all depends. I write how I&#8217;m feeling and I&#8217;m someone in tune w/ the people so I feel everything. It&#8217;s a gift and curse, but it helps me write any type of record, so you never know what you&#8217;re going to get. Just always expect bars. I take pride in the pen. So, expect well crafted verses every time. I always make sure I have something witty or some kind of wordplay or flow. Way to describe my sound to sum it all up.. think a mix of Fergie and Jesus, basically</p>
<p><strong>4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>Biggest lesson I&#8217;ve learned is that I have to focus on myself and my purpose and never lose that. I&#8217;m here to tell the story for my people that don&#8217;t have the voice to, thats either in prison, in the grave, or in the street. I lost sight of that with the whole &#8220;People are underrating me&#8221; thought process. I had to ask myself &#8220;Are you here for the culture or the recognition?&#8221;. From that point on, it&#8217;s just been about putting out the best product I can for the fan base and to expand the fan base. People like what I do and like it for a reason. The talent is there, the drive is there, and the music is there. It&#8217;s about standing tall in my purpose and providing some dope music to the people. That&#8217;s the biggest lesson I&#8217;ve learned. My path is mine for a reason. Embrace it, appreciate it, and keep working constantly.</p>

<p><strong>2. Kelow &#8211; (@SuperKelow)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/AJG-11.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="94623" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/04/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-week-4/ajg-11/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/AJG-11.jpg?fit=600%2C401&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="600,401" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="AJG-11" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/AJG-11.jpg?fit=600%2C401&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/AJG-11.jpg?fit=600%2C401&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-94623" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/AJG-11.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="AJG-11" width="640" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Kelow</strong> comes out of D.C. with a great sound &amp; her own style. The female lyricist brings us an abstract sound as she is able to play with various elements &amp; switch up flows. She&#8217;s been steadily picking up traction as she continues to show off her originality.</p>
<p><strong>1. What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>I wanna make moves !!! Skurrrrrr lol but seriously I wanna make big moves change my life and lives for the better; learn more than I did in 2014 &amp; share the jewels of life with my listeners I&#8217;m not even gon swell I got content and I got a lot of crank coming this year. know That knowledge &amp; Good energy is key!!! I wanna make you smile. Music now days just lacks and is sad as fuck! Like who wants be sad tho moe lls.</p>
<p><strong>3. How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>Like a gramma ray in our outer space a beautiful organic bright COLORFUL explosion</p>
<p><strong>4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>Always make more n more I can&#8217;t be afraid to push creativity and try something unusual when we&#8217;re / (I&#8217;m) changing and evolving everyday by the hour sec mines and your story/perspective changes evolves grows switches but someone in this universe will relate from something old new or soon to come<br />
The more I create the more I&#8217;ll reach .</p>

<p><strong>1. What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>My biggest goal of 2015 is to keep my music as diverse as possible. As an artist, I feel like it&#8217;s important to remain creative in order to maximize my growth and success.</p>
<p><strong>2. What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>I need my listeners to be able to understand me and my craft. Since I am an independent artist, I would like for my listeners to not just enjoy the music but realize through hard work and grit, anything is possible. It hasn&#8217;t been easy to gain what I have already accomplished and I&#8217;m nowhere near done, but life is a challenge. In order for me to take that challenge head-on, I have to take those risks.</p>
<p><strong>3. How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s difficult to classify my sound because I represent all types but being a fan of music, my sound is a mixture of all genres, not just hip-hop.</p>
<p><strong>4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been doing music since I was 11, so I&#8217;ve learned quite a few lessons. My biggest takeaways would be to be patient, take your time, persevere through the hardships, practice your craft, and cultivate your sound. When that happens, I believe there&#8217;s no doubt in being able to increase your success</p>

<p>Independent artists keep music exciting &amp; always remind us that there is so much talent in the world. Nowadays it is easy to get swamped with all the mainstream music that is out &amp; you often forget to take time out to discover some new sounds that&#8217;s where Unsigned Spotlight comes in. Sundays at Respect Magazine will now be dedicated to giving 5 Unsigned artists the spotlight &amp; showcasing their talents. These artists will come from all over the country &amp; have various backgrounds but all their music will be unique in a way as they pave the way for the next wave of music. Enjoy!</p>
<p><strong>1. Silk The Prince </strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/SilkSalute.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="92706" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/03/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-week-3/silksalute/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/SilkSalute.jpg?fit=1000%2C667&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="1000,667" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;5.6&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;TYRIKUS CUNNINGHAM PHOTOGRAPHY&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;Canon EOS REBEL T5i&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;1413688101&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;40&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;100&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0.003125&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="SilkSalute" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/SilkSalute.jpg?fit=1000%2C667&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/SilkSalute.jpg?fit=640%2C427&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-92706" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/SilkSalute-640x427.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="SilkSalute" width="640" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Silk The Prince</strong> comes out of South Carolina with his own sound &amp; a wide-range of abilities. With a mix of influences, Silk is able to provide us with energetic anthems, songs for the ladies, &amp; conscious record as well. Throughout all this, he still manages to put his own style on everything &amp; is constantly expanding his sound.<br />
<strong><br />
&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>By the end of 2015 I want to be the biggest rapper in South Carolina and expand from there. That&#8217;s really what I&#8217;m working towards.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>I hope all my songs give them different messages. I&#8217;m not a boxed in rapper, sometimes the message should just be to &#8220;Turn Up&#8221;, others I want you to just feel where I&#8217;m coming from, and say &#8220;this dude is dope&#8221;.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>Unique. I&#8217;m singing one minute and rapping the next, then the next minute I switch my delivery and voice up, I just like to bring something different to the table.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>There are absolutely no handouts in this game. You really have to work for everything, invest, and avoid making same mistakes twice.</p>

<p><strong>2. Nessly </strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Nessly-Help-It-Cover.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="92707" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/03/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-week-3/processed-with-vscocam-with-lv03-preset/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Nessly-Help-It-Cover.jpg?fit=2317%2C2317&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="2317,2317" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;2.4&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;iPhone 5&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;1416736540&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;Copyright 2014. <p><strong>Nessly</strong> out of Atlanta brings us an experimental sound that builds on various elements. The talented upstart works with select producers that help define his original sound. With a blend of auto-tune, various effects, &amp; different flows, Nessly&#8217;s music is very original especially coming out of Atlanta. His ability to experiment &amp; constantly create different sounds is always nice to hear.<br />
<strong><br />
&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>My biggest goal in 2015 is to release at least five mixtapes under the 24 Karat / GOODKIDSPROSPER imprint. I also plan on assisting my right hand and producer Colby Crump In finishing and releasing his first project.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>My music is made for everyone with each song carrying it&#8217;s own special message. Some simply to party to and others with deeper meaning for listeners to relate to.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>I describe my sound as eccentric and groundbreaking for the job incorporating elements of other genres and creating an all new sound that is more experimental.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>The biggest lesson I learned from making music is one that directly affects my everyday life. It opened my eyes to both the good and bad in people. Some people are great and you me a lot of new friends and people who only want the best for you but on the other end you meet a lot of opportunities who want to piggyback off of the name you&#8217;re gaining. Really music has overall taught me a lot about life in a faster time than it would the average person outside of the entertainment field.</p>

<p><strong>3. Joey Green</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/qlQsdhvR.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="92708" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/03/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-week-3/qlqsdhvr/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/qlQsdhvR.jpg?fit=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="768,1024" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="qlQsdhvR" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/qlQsdhvR.jpg?fit=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/qlQsdhvR.jpg?fit=640%2C853&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-92708" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/qlQsdhvR-640x853.jpg?resize=640%2C400" alt="qlQsdhvR" width="640" height="400" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Joey Green&#8217;s</strong> bold statements &amp; lyrical prowess make him one of D.C&#8217;s shining unsigned talents. Joey steps out of the normal scene &amp; continues to show off his experimental production choice as he puts a focus on the lyrical content. The young talent has been on a roll in 2015 &amp; continues to push the boundaries.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>Thelonius Martin has been my favorite up and coming producer for the last few years. His sound is unique and is really smooth, I really want to try and link up with him this year. Being able to work with one of your favorites would be a rewarding experience for sure.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>I hope that it reflects the art of self-expression. I like to craft through moods, emotions, and observances so that I can try to create not only a connection with listers, but also vivid visual audio. For the listeners I think my sound also embraces individuality. When I&#8217;m making music, I wanna reflect who I am and hopefully that self-expression invites people to want to hear more.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>I would say my sound is experimental and progressive. With each project or song that I do, I always want to try something new or different. I&#8217;ve always loved switching things up, putting things together, taking them apart, etc. I think my experimental process plays a huge role on my sound, you&#8217;re gonna get something different every time. I wanna reinvent myself every time.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve learned that you have to be really patient. Good things come to those who wait, so that&#8217;s been something I&#8217;ve been working on over the years. Another lesson for me is to remain humble. I don&#8217;t like to brag or boast about my sound, for me I&#8217;m way happier with presenting something to someone and waiting for that constructive criticism. Humbleness in general is a good trait to have.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/196355284&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" frameborder="no" scrolling="no"></iframe></p>
<p><strong>4. Tim Gent </strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/IMG_6200.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="92709" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/03/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-week-3/img_6200/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/IMG_6200.jpg?fit=640%2C640&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="640,640" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="IMG_6200" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/IMG_6200.jpg?fit=640%2C640&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/IMG_6200.jpg?fit=640%2C640&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-92709" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/IMG_6200-640x640.jpg?resize=640%2C640" alt="IMG_6200" width="640" height="640" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Tim Gent</strong> represents Clarksville, TN with smooth delivery &amp; solid lyricism. Tim&#8217;s sound continues to grow sonically &amp; his ability to put together a song is really dope to hear. With constant releases, the talented emcee keeps things interesting as he touches on a variety of subjects.<br />
<strong><br />
&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>If I could name my biggest goal for 2015, it would be to get myself in a position where I&#8217;m touring (while being compensated) and able to better provide for my little one.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>The only messages I really have is CHIEF (Catch Height In Ever Fall), and that it&#8217;s okay to be yourself with this thing. I want folks to know that with God, a little bit of support, and a little bit of will, impossible is a word that shouldn&#8217;t even be thought of.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>If I could describe my sound, I&#8217;d say I was the southern hip hop&#8217;s Ray Charles with elements of rhythm and blues. The way he combined his gospel background with that wave of his century was mad cool to me and I feel I&#8217;m doing the same. I only bumped r&amp;b, gospel, Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane for a really long time. Mostly gospel and r&amp;b though.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>Music has really made me a much more observant person. I mean, I was always attentive when it came to my surroundings, but since I&#8217;ve been making music on a serious note, I&#8217;m constantly watching and listening.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/196076160&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" frameborder="no" scrolling="no"></iframe></p>
<p><strong>5. <span class="soundTitle__title soundTitle__titleHero g-type-shrinkwrap-inline">Futuristic</span><br />
</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/futuristic-rapper-hoody-1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="92710" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2015/03/respect-magazines-unsigned-spotlight-week-3/futuristic-rapper-hoody-1/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/futuristic-rapper-hoody-1.jpg?fit=720%2C480&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="720,480" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="futuristic-rapper-hoody-1" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/futuristic-rapper-hoody-1.jpg?fit=720%2C480&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/futuristic-rapper-hoody-1.jpg?fit=640%2C427&amp;ssl=1" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-92710" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/futuristic-rapper-hoody-1-640x427.jpg?resize=640%2C427" alt="futuristic-rapper-hoody-1" width="640" height="427" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Futuristic </strong>out of Arizona by way of Illinois comes through with high-energy &amp; punchlines for days. With a strong independent fan-base, the talented artist provides us with music that is built off his real-life &amp; also comes with a sense of humor. Futuristic&#8217;s feel-good vibe is contagious &amp; his music continues to improve.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?</strong></p>
<p>I actually have a few goals… I would love for my project &#8220;The Rise,&#8221; which will be released May 12th, to crack Top 5 on iTunes. This is by far my best work and I want as many people to hear it as possible. Being on tour now, I realized I want to pretty much tour all year &#8217;round with other artists bigger than myself to gain an even bigger fanbase and experience new things, and just because touring is the shit, haha. There’s nothing better than traveling, meeting new people and doing what you love!</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?</strong></p>
<p>The main message I want my music to transpire is the idea of doing what you love to do and to live the life you want to live. It doesn&#8217;t matter what you look like, where you come from or what you&#8217;ve done, good or bad. You can do anything. Live the life you wanna live!</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; How would you describe your own sound?</strong></p>
<p>I have 2 sounds, and would described them as, a) Punchline heavy rapper with a sense of humor. I really respect rappers that make you think or rewind and listen to something twice, so I try to be as witty as possible without losing the listener, and b) Storyteller. Sometimes you gotta just get out your feelings and while doing that you relate to a whole bunch of people who have been through the same shit. I enjoy making real music you can relate to just as much as I love making bangers.</p>
<p><strong>&#8211; What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?</strong></p>
<p>My biggest lesson learned is to not worry about anything anybody else is doing. Focus on YOU and what you wanna do and where you wanna be, and eventually you&#8217;ll get there. Everyone has their own path and none of them can be duplicated. You are your own person and you control your own destiny!</p>
