Florida rapper TYTE pays homage to the Cash Money movement in his new “Hot Boy” music video. It’s directed by Jahfy Moe and finds the rapper running the streets in a GTA-inspired fashion. The single, produced by Savage Puff will be featured on TYTE’s upcoming project Sincerely 3. “Hot Boy” arrives on the heels of “Spin A Benz,” which dropped a few weeks back.

“He say he a killer, I don’t believe that / Caught that baby boy lacking, where his heat at,” TYTE raps. Check out the video our exclusive Q&R below.

What’s the inspiration behind Hot Boy?

“Hot Boy” is basically reminding people about the Cash Money Millionaires era; Baby, Lil Wayne, Juvenile, BG, Turk. I wanted to take what they brought to the game and give it a spin. This song embodies what it means to be a Hot Boy in modern time.

Tell us about your recording process.

My recording process is really simple. I hear a beat and in the first five seconds, I can tell whether I like it or not. Next, I hop in the booth with no pen or paper. Everything is off the top of my head. I punch in frequently but I usually speak on things I’ve done or seen. Sometimes the first 8 bars might be a hook or the beginning of a verse depending on how it sounds. If I have a dope engineer that can understand me and how I work I can finish a song in 20 minutes.

What legacy do you want to leave behind?

I want the world to know I was a genuine, good person that spoke from the heart and represented the struggle. I want to leave messages in my music to help others get through their daily lives and make it out of situations they never thought they would. Also, I want to leave behind information that we didn’t have access to growing up. People need to know about money and investments for their families. I want the generation after me to look back at Hip Hop and learn from our culture and apply it to their own lives.

What are your interests outside of music?

Taking care of my daughter and my family. I also want to mentor people that look up to me and are willing to learn. I like making investments, it’s a new thing I‘m getting into and learning more about.

Name your Top 5 Rappers of All-Time.

Plies, Trick Daddy, Future, T-Pain, and Yo Gotti.
