Of course, Jay Rock is the OG when it comes to the TDE camp, but it wasn’t long before Kendrick Lamar showed up. Rosenberg asked Jay about who was in the studio during the early stages of him coming out of Watts, and going into the studio. Top Dawg, Punch, and Kendrick were all around. Kendrick only came about a month later after Jay Rock begin his journey. To get himself started in the rap game, Jay Rock would do songs with the homies and they would say to him “you got the voice.” Also, what made him want to rap, were those around him doing it and his brother coming home with various tapes. He became influenced by an older relative who wrote raps and Jay at a young age, mocked him. Check out the full interview below and stay tuned for Jay’s “90059” album to hit us soon.

Ab-Soul seems to be a little disgruntled over at TDE. This past January, Soulo noted he had turned in two projects to the label in 2013 and nothing materialized. After releasing “Tree of Life” a few weeks ago, it would appear that Ab is ready to get the ball rolling on his own album, which should coincide with Top Dawg’s wishes of dropping six projects in 2014. However, Ab is perhaps meeting some brick walls given the fact that he now says hes close to leaking his album like a mixtape. He went on to tell a fan that he was growing frustrated with playing the waiting game. It’s also worth noting that Ab-Soul was conspicuously absent from Schoolboy Q’s Oxymoron. Perhaps he’s feeling a little left out of the loop. His currently untitled album, if he has anything to say about it, will see the light of day sometime this year.
