Rapper and Producer Ishtrumentals has released his latest material titled “Dosage”. After catching his big break in 2016 producing a record for Quentin Miller, his rise to fame took off! This song is the first single off of his forthcoming album scheduled to be released early next month.

He has made it a point to establish an original sound, and show the world that he is far more than just a DJ. He has done just that on this release.

On this song, you will hear Ish rapping about being focused on his music, while balancing romance and turning his vision into a reality. His Atlanta upbringing and influence, plays a major role in the auto tuned melody you hear throughout. Some lyrics that really stand out on this release are “I need that new whip with that top gone like it’s schizophrenic.”

The bumping, trap beat is a match made in heaven for this ATL rapper. As he prides himself on diversity and storytelling, “Dosage” shows off a more vulnerable and melodic side to his creativity.

When you hear the names E-40 and Too Short, the first word that comes to mind is “B****H!” When you combine Nick Cannon in that mix, a ‘cha ching’ rings louder than any catchphrase. Nick Cannon has one of the most successful running shows on MTV right now, as his 12th season of Wild n’ Out premieres with Chance the Rapper. Besides his current strides of success, Cannon has recently announced that he has inked a deal with the Bay Area legends to produce a series titled The Yay Area. The series promises a real look inside the drug supply chain and street distribution for the Northern California’s Bay Area.

This new venture comes at a great time for a busy Cannon, who just recently inked a multi-year deal with Fox. On the movie front, Cannon is set to release his NCredible/Cash Money film She Ballin 2019 — a film directed, written and produced by Cannon — alongside Birdman, another Hip-Hop icon, and pop star Chris Brown, who is also set to appear on-screen.

The Bay’s favorite luxury rapper Philthy Rich dropped his smash single “Right Now” last Summer. Yesterday, the Traxamillion-produced track took on a new life as legends E-40 and Too Short joined Philthy and singer Ziggy for a hot remix video. The visuals for “Right Now (Remix)” dropped on WorldStarHipHop and sparked huge anticipation for Philthy’s The Remixes II album release this weekend!

The new video for this Bay Area banger raises the stakes from the original Hatch 86 visual, with video vixens who FIRE DANCE and signature contortionist moves from Oakland’s Turffeinz crew. In the “Right Now (Remix)” behind the scenes video seen below, it’s clear director Josh Fields wanted to elevate the vibe of the original track, bringing in metallic environments and neon lights to compliment the luxury cars and stacks.

But the biggest “Right Now (Remix)” win is the love shown by the legendary Too Short and E-40! These OG artists are keeping the Bay flavor alive and fanning the flames for the album of remixes that Philthy Rich’s fans have been waiting for, The Remixes II, available today on all platforms.

Since Jay-Z and his 4:44 album has been trending since Thursday and NBA Free agency is officially upon us, why not?

Remember that time DeShawn Stevenson called LeBron James overrated?

Think back: 2008 NBA Playoffs, Stevenson, a member of the Washington Wizards at the time, said that James, who was serving his first stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers was an overrated basketball player. James, seemingly unfazed and chasing his first NBA title at the time, replied stating that Stevenson would be like “Jay-Z responding to Soulja Boy.”

Jay-Z then stepped in. Sampling the instrumental and vocals from Too Short’s Blow The Whistle, Hov went ham!

If you’re tardy to the party, Jay-Z said:

“Ask my n**** LeBron! We so big we ain’t gotta respond. When you talkin to a don, please have respect like you’re talking to your mom. We let the money do the talkin. As you see we be talkin rather often. The ROC Boys in the buildin. Another hundred fifty million don’t it sound like we yellin?!!! Who the f*** overrated?! If anything they underpaid him. Hatin that’s only ‘gonna make him spend the night out of spite with the chick you’ve been datin. We the best of the best. We ‘gon be here so the rest could take a rest, I gotta get this off my chest, No pause none of that s***, get off my d***”

“I thought it was dope cause it’s Jay,” DeShawn Stevenson told me on Scoop B Radio. “But it just caught me off guard because you know, I don’t rap. So you know, it was just a weird situation. I thought it was clever because I’m from California, Fresno obviously Blow The Whistle, so honestly at the moment it’s nothing against Jay it was more about LeBron and the situation that was going on.”

James and Stevenson’s quarrel began after a disagreement that Stevenson felt was a dead issue. “It was just something I heard in the locker room,” said Stevenson. “Long situation that got back to me and I felt that, with that type of player you shouldn’t be talking in the locker room and doing stuff like that.”

When asked to further their issue from way back, Stevenson stated:

“I don’t like to go back and forth because it’s getting kind of old, but to me it was disrespectful. I felt like it’s a brotherhood and I felt like I came straight out of high school and you did too. So we should be uplifting not trying to hold each other down.”

Stevenson and James made peace since the incident. In 2011, Stevenson, a member of the Dallas Mavericks faced off against James’ Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. The Mavericks would win.

Appearing on Scoop B Radio a few months back, Too $hort weighed in on Jay-Z’s sampling of Blow The Whistle. According to the Oakland rapper, he believes that Jay-Z, then a mironity of the Nets, used the song as a tactic to recruit LeBron James to the Nets during free agency in 2010.

“So I guess in his mind he was gearing up to, at that point, I think he was thinking about signing LeBron and having him play for the Nets,” Too Short shared with me via Scoop B Radio in March.

“And he was courting LeBron and LeBron was special to him and ol’ boy [Stevenson] stepped on LeBron’s toes talking sh** and Jay was like, ‘I’m going to shut this down.’ And he probably saw the moment where the crowd reacted to the song and then that was on his mind.”

Stevenson who briefly played for the Nets can see Too Short’s logic. Of course, for sure,” he said.

“I mean you look at LeBron right now you can’t deny he’s a hell of a player so it’s kind of like him having his back and that’s why I didn’t look at it as a certain type of situation but you know being from Cali Too Short knows we Cali people we move different you can’t do those type of things so I just took it for what it is.”

Remember that time DeShawn Stevenson called LeBron James overrated?

Soulja Boy used that statement to his advantage and attended a playoff game between the two teams. He even cheered on Stevenson while sitting courtside and did the Superman dance from his seat.

That’s when Jay-Z stepped in. Sampling the instrumental and vocals from Too Short’s Blow The Whistle, Hov went ham!

For those with amnesia or tardy to the party, he said in the diss track:

“Ask my n**** LeBron! We so big we ain’t gotta respond. When you talkin to a don, please have respect like you’re talking to your mom. We let the money do the talkin. As you see we be talkin rather often. The ROC Boys in the buildin. Another hundred fifty million don’t it sound like we yellin?!!! Who the f*** overrated?! If anything they underpaid him. The Cavaliers would eventually eliminate the Wizards in that playoff series and Jay-Z would get his point across without LeBron saying a word. Too $hort’s song also got new life.

So much life, that eight years later, Drake’s vocals came in on For Free, a single on DJ Khaled’s Major Key album. On it, Drake would rhyme $hort’s classic, ‘on and on’ as his opening verse.

Simply putL Drizzy and Hovi gave it the old Toronto and Brooklyn one-two punch!

“It just gave the song a new audience every now and then,” Too $hort shared with me.  “Like every two or three years some new area just discovers Blow The Whistle and it’s like a new song all over again.”

But we digress!

Appearing on today’s episode of the Scoop B Radio Podcast, Too $hort walked listeners through the inter-webbing of Jay-Z’s request to use the track and his decision to side with LeBron. Too $hort indicated that Jay-Z had a concert in Oakland after James and Stevenson were going back and forth. Too $hort says that Jay-Z decided to play the song at the concert.. “I didn’t come on stage but he played it and like sent me a shout out and the crowd went crazy when he played the song,” Too $hort told me on Scoop B Radio.

“So I guess in his mind he was gearing up to, at that point I think he was thinking about signing LeBron and having him play for the Nets and he was courting LeBron and LeBron was special to him and ‘ol boy [Stevenson] stepped on LeBron’s toes talking shit and Jay was like I’m going to shut this down. And he probably saw the moment where the crowd reacted to the song and then that was on his mind.”

If you recall, Jay-Z, a close friend and confidant of LeBron was a minority owner of the Nets at that time. A non-issue, but good for theater, nonetheless.

Seizing the opportunity, Too $hort said Jay-Z called him, asked for his blessing and requested the Blow The Whistle beat.

“He was like: ‘could you send me the instrumental to that?’ If a rapper called me and said: ‘send me the instrumental,’ I’ll probably say something like: ‘we didn’t even bounce the instrumental, so we don’t even have one.’ When Jay called, I was like: ‘ it will be there in a couple of hours man.’ I had no idea what he was going to do with it, but I am glad he did.”

Too Short is not having the best week ever. Yesterday, TMZ revealed that Short is being investigated for raping his former protégé; the unnamed woman has done “provocative” videos and “other projects” with the Bay Area legend in the past.

[As a sidenote: last month, a rapper named Ana Lou tweeted an open letter of sorts about Short which seem to confirm that she’s the woman in question. As such, this is yet to be confirmed.]

According to police, said woman claimed that she was hanging with Short at his home in Los Angeles when the crime occurred…she also told cops that she was a virgin prior to the sexual attack. Initially, sources from Short’s camp denied the accusations, claiming that the woman was formerly signed to Short’s label and is now looking to extort the rapper after being dropped.

Now, Short — real name: Todd Shaw — has released a statement on the matter, which can be read in full below (source):

Today, I read that I am being investigated for allegedly committing sexual assault. The allegations against me are completely false. Let me be clear, I have NEVER had nonconsensual sex with anyone, ever. I have directed my lawyers to vigorously combat these ridiculous claims. I have not been contacted by the LAPD about this matter and doubt I ever will be. If I am, I will direct my lawyers to fully cooperate and turn over 100’s of text messages and other evidence that will prove this woman is falsely accusing me. Thanks for your support.
