British singer and songwriter Lianne La Havas recently unveiled her single, “Tokyo” along with officially releasing her hotly anticipated sophomore album, Blood. Lianne’s style of smokey, warm and soulful jazz has been widely embraced both back home and abroad with Blood not appearing to have fallen victim to the dreaded, ‘sophomore album curse.’ Already being hailed as a triumph, the album title references to Lianne’s Jamaican and Greek ancestry, which has heavily influenced the 10-track project.

The album is available on iTunes, Amazon and on vinyl. Head to the website to grab your copy! In the meantime, drift away with Lianne to her newest single, “Tokyo” below.

Off of their 2012 project, 1982 (Statik Selektah and Termanology) finally released visuals to one of the doper cuts off the album. The video for “Lights Down” seems to take place in Tokyo, where Statik and Term’s fanbase has always shown love. The vid highlights the nightlife of the city with crisp visuals by Jonah Schwartz.

Recently spotted in Tokyo, Japan, the group sarcastically conveyed their opinion on the depiction of street art through their piece “Little Vandal GK.” This piece was made in collaboration with Nick Walker’s (who created the butterfly). STATIC recently started their solo show, “The Conquest” at the Gallery Kawamatsu. They are now on their way to Hiroshima for “Walls” a group show.

Mixing colors and patterns, STATIC, denounces various aspects of our society such as consumerism (above).

The two artists find inspiration in contemporary revolutionary actions. They are heavily influenced by riots and strikes.

When we started off, one of the first screen prints we did was a piece to do with the Paris student riots, so we’ve always had a bit of an interest in that and tried to subvert it, see what we can do with it, make people look at it differently.
