tj. is part of an ever-growing Toronto underground scene that’s filled with post-modern tastemakers and artists that are beginning to shape the new Canadian cultural capital. He’s finally stepped out of hiatus and drops a brand new single labelled “Kill Me 1st.” The song comes off his forthcoming project DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS.

The high potency track paints a vivid picture of a generation that can use religious imagery to paint Toronto’s drug-fueled youth culture in cruder but YouTube-friendly way. The instrumental is constructed by a producer named Ashley Scott, a frequent collaborator.

tj. took a minute to speak to RESPECT. Mag about his process that went behind composing the single and this is what he had to say:

‘”Kill Me 1st” is a celebration of my deepest fears. A Party. I stopped celebrating my birthday after my first one and began planning my death day party. After White Jesus died he died he no longer feared death. This is my liberation from death. The rise.

The culmination of this will happen on the upcoming EP DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS. It will be like swimming in a pool of blood. Don’t eat for at least three hours before jumping in. It will make you throw up upon impact. Just spoke to Billboard about creating a new rating system to protect the unready from the level of profanity this tape will exercise.’

Decatur, Georgia’s own TJ has taken a bit of time off since releasing new music, but this week, the young talent is back, linking up with Two-9 standout Curtis Williams for his latest track, titled “Savannah.” The mellow & sultry record is the second release from TJ’s upcoming project, “L I F E,” which is executive produced by Gwen Bunn, and is slated for a release in the Fall, namely in October.

The artist’s fans have been long awaiting the release of his full length mixtape and TJ knows they’re getting impatient. The Atlanta wordsmith has been keeping fans updated with his new music & roll out plans via his own personal blog, where he talks more about the upcoming mixtape release, “L I F E.” Check out an excerpt below.

Yoooo! So i know I been talkin bout this LIFE project for a while, and I haven’t been releasing any new material for a minute, but exactly a week from today on my 24th birthday Imma let you guys get a taste of this new music I been workin so hard on. I never made music for fame or status, or even for money this wave is strictly for my people and anybody who has ever believed in anything I’ve ever did. My only goal is to empower the people and motivate you to know that anything you want in this life you can get! 10-27-2015 LIFE ON THE WAY!

Hailing from Decatur, GA, TJ makes his visual debut with a short film for his Childish Major (the talented producer who rose to fame after producing U.O.E.N.O.) produced single, “Get It From Me.” The cinematic video depicts TJ as the main character, a man on the run from the law with his girl waiting at home, worried sick. To see how it plays out, check out the video here. Be on the look out for more from TJ soon, as he prepares to drop his new project, “LIFE,” within the next month.

Little Pain, aka PainDaThug is killing it. He released “Pain Killers” earlier this month, an all star collaboration with Wiki, Lofty 305, Kool A.D. and Antwon. Now he’s back with a Halloween inspired video directed by Elevator  for his new track, L.I.T.T.L.E. The track is top notch with production from TJ, and the video is sad and spooky, exactly what it needs to be. Look out for his forthcoming mixtape L.I.T.T.L.E. dropping soon.
