This joint has been on repeat since I’ve first heard it.  And if, “Red Bull gets you wings”, then this track gives me muscles.  Have you ever had a song that gets you super hype whenever you hear it?  Yeah yeah, we all have.  Well this one does that to me.  I feel like I’m about to wreck shop after listening to this.  But then I realize, No…. that’s not my steez, let me put my dress back on and bop my head because I’m a lady.. I’ll just listen to 5ive Mics and T.I. bully the beat created by FKI (in association with Hustle Gang & Defient).  You can’t go wrong when Brooklyn’s own 5ive Mics link up with the King of the South, T.I. (Tip).

Since hearing the quality single, the King of the South has now blessed the streets with a video for “Project Steps”.

Taking us back to the trap, T.I. reveals a black and white production, most appropriate for the nature of the hood style track.

Joined by the squad, the Hustle Gang associate embraces the street feel, making it clear that ‘money is the concept.’ Integrating basic, yet realistic imagery, the movement matches the record effectively, and lines up another of Tip’s creative and capturing scenarios.

We are expecting additional music in the upcoming months, as the “Turn It” artist has touched on a concrete album for release this year.

As we know, the King of the South T.I. applies his talents in many directions, not only in the music world, but towards well-rounded creative endeavours. For this reason, the streets have been waiting for a concrete project from Tip for quite some time. A topic that appears to have been kept on the down-low, the rapper’s latest project is underway as he applies studio time at a dedicated level.

In a recent interview with Billboard, the “Project Steps” trapper revealed that the new album is actually complete with only minor arrangements to be put in place. The rapper confirms no release date has been firmly established.

“The new album’s finished! I just have to figure out when I’ll have time to actually market it and promote it and work it. Presently we’re working on Bankroll Mafia. Bankroll Mafia is a collective that includes a lot of personal and professional constituents throughout the industry, in and out of our elements. One of them being Shad da God, another one being myself and another one being Young Thug. We’re very colourful characters in this business and you should be hearing some music very soon.”

As attractive as this sounds, T.I.’s schedule seems to be hindering the album process, as he makes attempts to balance the music scene with movie roles, and of course reality TV.

“It’s difficult because, like I said, I have an album right now ready to go but I don’t have any actual time to invest in the marketing, promotions and all of the work that goes into releasing it. I’m about to start a film with Jamie Foxx in Atlanta in the next couple weeks, and that should take me somewhere into August. It’s hard, I could just drop it right now and not necessarily put any work into the release, but I don’t think that would really serve the true purpose of the release.”

“No time off. We have so much work to do, so many people to create opportunities for.”

The King of the South has certainly been in the spotlight this month, heating up the streets with new joints and applying his attention to movie appearances. Most recently we witnessed the Grand Hustle representative dive in a new direction with Project Steps, taking his day one fans back to the flow from the hood.

It seems this was just a taste of what is to come, as Tip plans to get the Trap Back Jumpin’ with a new album, currently labelled Traps Open. We know the southern lyricist is one to switch up project titles nearer to their release date, so we await further details in the time ahead.

For now, we anticipate a quality and rich production with this upcoming LP; a follow up to Paperwork: The Motion Picture; part of a trilogy. Previously titled: ‘The Return’ it is clear why T.I. had a change of heart, reflected through his honest explanation:

“The next one is going to be unapologetic gangsta. It’s trap music and it’s called traps open.” –T.I.

The King of the South brings the streets something new to contemplate, having recently expressed his thoughts on hip-hop and the Grammys. According to the Light em up trapper, the culture is being somewhat undermined when it comes down to awards, with individuals failing to recognize potential in the game.

T.I. explained:

“The hip-hop community isn’t being heard the way it should be. I don’t think it’s enough young urban socialites on the board for us to have a clear voice. You can look at the list of people who’ve never won a Grammy to see that. Tupac and B.I.G. have never won a Grammy, Snoop Dogg has never won a Grammy. That kinda says a lot.”

Not only this, the Atlanta artist now has high hopes for his Hustle Gang associate Iggy Azalea, in winning ‘Rap Album of the Year.’

“It’s whatever is commercial is successful, and whatever plays the most on the radio, which is why I think Iggy is going to win it. I don’t think that’s nothing she has to be ashamed of, that’s something she should be proud of.
Off the list, that’s the only one that has benefited my campaign. I’m rockin’ with who’s rockin’ with me.”

Today marks the six-year anniversary of T.I.’s Paper Trail album. Released in 2008, the album racked up 568,000 in its first week, hitting number one. Following the death of Tip’s friend, things got worse for the rapper, as he was awaiting trial for federal weapons possessions charges, and the raw anger and emotion filled the album.
