It’s always sad when hip-hop loses a legend and unfortunately a little over week ago, we lost another legend, Phife Dawg. The founder of A Tribe Called Quest, passed away on March 22nd from complications due to diabetes but thankfully his fans, musical friends and ATCQ will not let his memory and legendary accomplishments die down.

ATCQ has announced that they will be honoring Phife Dawg by having a gathering for him tomorrow, April 4th at 10:30 am at St. Albans Memorial Park in Queens, New York. The event is posted on the Smoking’ Needles site and it states that the first 200 fans to arrive will get a special gift.

Along with this gathering, Phife has been celebrated in multiple ways. Tim Westwood released an unreleased Phife freestyle from 1999 according to Pitchfork. And according to Complex, Q-Tip paid tribute to Phife on his Abstract Radio show on Beats 1. He played a mix of Phife’s tracks/bars and the show featured tributes from Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, Chuck D and Pharrell. Here is what Chuck D had to say about Phife:

“Full-out salute to my brother Phife. Little brother Phife Dawg, a hip-hop rap world warrior. He lived and breathed hip-hop. The man’s a social narrator along with the world-legendary all-time A Tribe Called Quest. What aa team along with Q-Tip, along with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, along with Jarobi. Team player in the game and really from Queens, these kings. Even had the first lady salute as well. Shout out to my man Phife, the warrior. Peace. A Tribe Called Quest forever.”

You can take a listen to the entire show below.

Young Thug was recently in the United Kingdom for a performance and stopped backstage to talk to Tim Westwood. Thugger has had a ton of projects and songs that dropped in 2014-2015. He will continue on that path as he announces a slew of projects he has coming up.

“We got Slime Season 1, Slime Season 2, Hy!£UN35 the album, Slime Season 3, Slime Season 4, Barter 5,” Young Thug says. Tim Westwood asked about the new producers he has been working with. In the past, people like Allan Ritter, Metro Boomin, and more, has been named with being involved with Young Thug’s music. Tim goes on to talk about Young Thug’s performance and how he just may have been able to get away with performing acapella. Considering the crowd knew nearly every word, it wasn’t have been a bad live set. The interview with Thug isn’t anything out of the norm, but you can still get a good laugh and some information out of it. Check it out below and enjoy.

Migos recently stopped by the Tim Westwood show & give us a 17-minute freestyle. All 3 Migos take their turns exchanging lyrics over various instrumentals. With ad-libs in full effect, The Atlanta superstars add their signature touch to everything they hop on.

Future sits down with the one and only Tim Westwood to discuss his latest mixtape “Monster.” In the nearly 24-minute long interview, the Freebandz rapper mentioned his struggle with making hits and maintaining his original sound that he is best known for. He also touches on his upcoming sophomore album, in which he says it’s about to be “f—ing nuts.”

The ATL rapper explained why he chooses to keep his private life and public life completely separate. Hendrix stated,

The music I make it can never affect my personal life and my personal life can never affect my music. My Instagram is not about to be my personal life. My Instagram is not about to have my kids on it, and I’m with my kids all the time. I’m not gonna be like, “chilling at the house with my kids.” I got kids that also look at IGs and I feel like that character that I’m in is not daddy mode. People gotta know how to separate it.

Peep the interesting interview above and let us know your thoughts below.
