Another big move for Atlanta Hip-Hop: Netherlands super-DJ/producer Tiësto has recruited Gucci Mane for a remix of the single “Boom,” which also features Sevenn. He explains:

I’ve always liked Gucci’s flow and music, so I approached him and he was down… What I’ve learned about teaming up with other artists is that everyone’s ear is different and everyone has their unique approach to working with a track. I know my sound very well, which can make collaborations difficult because I’m not willing to compromise my style. But, when my collaborations work, they really work. This track is an example of that.

This past Saturday, New York City’s Central Park played host to a bevy of stars–Sting, The Roots, Beyonce, Jay Z, Fun, Carrie Underwood, Alicia Keys, No Doubt, and Tiesto, just to name a few–who came together to put on a powerful show for the Global Citizen Festival.

The festival, in its third year, is put on by the Global Poverty Project, which seeks to eradicate extreme poverty by 2030. Dignitaries and celebrities alike, such as Jessica Alba and the Prime Minister of Norway took to the stage between performers to speak to the crowd of 60,000 concertgoers about various charitable causes. Other celebrities, such as John Amos, came out to show their support for a good cause.

“Our world needs solar power and wind power, but I believe in an even stronger source of energy–people power,” said United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The crowd of 60,000 was proof of the aforementioned power of the people; in order to gain entry to the free, ticketed, event, concertgoers won admission by taking some form of social and political action, whether it was signing petitions, emailing world leaders or sharing content with their social networks to campaign for positive change.

Jay Z issued a statement on the importance of change, saying, “Change only takes place when and where there is action.  I’m joining the 2014 Global Citizen Festival because I believe through actions, whether it be by raising awareness, getting involved or educating ourselves, the goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is possible.”

Indeed, the “Change Clothes” rapper’s performance was the highlight of the night, with Queen Bey making a surprise appearance and joining the mister on stage for “Holy Grail” and “Forever Young.”  The often unimpressed Jay Z even commented on the strength in numbers displayed by the budding activists–”That’s the most incredible thing I ever saw,” he remarked, as he looked out at the crowd.

Then, the happy couple smoothly walked off stage in an embrace.

March has only just begun, but Pusha T is already preparing himself for its end. Push, who is coming off the most successful (solo) year of his career, will join the likes of Tiesto, Avicii and an army of some of the best EDM producers in the world for the Ultra Music Festival in Miami starting March 29th.

In order to assimilate himself better with the multicolored EDM crowd, Push has linked up with producer YOGI for “Burial,” a jarring track that allows the Virginia native to spit acidic bars over a trap beat that wouldn’t seem at all out of place at the Miami festival. Ever since his days with Clipse and The Neptunes, Pusha has had a knack for flowing over some truly otherworldly instrumentals, and this one from YOGI is no different. Hopefully we get some more trap-infused cuts from King Push in the weeks leading up to Ultra, but for now check out “Burial” below.
