Folks New The Truth Single Review"" width="640" height="640" data-recalc-dims="1" />
By: D. Folks

Richmond, Virginia creative D. Folks has released a soulful new single titled “The Truth“. As he is known more for his sick production skills, offering is proof that producers are just as vocally talented as some of music’s biggest stars. What makes this release so special is that it showcases Folks’s talent like never before. He has so much soul that pours out in every rift, word and melody that spills from his mouth.

Written as an acknowledgement of a duo’s journey to form a more perfect union, D. Folks reminds us that “the truth” hurts. In a harmonious manner you will hear the Virginia native singing bars like “In the morning when I awake, I watch you while you sleep, wondering what went wrong can we fix it for we leave”. These open and honest lyrics let listeners know that at the end of the day, he would rather work things out then fight. He simply craves honesty and demands it on this release in a subtle and pleasing way.

When you pair the songster’s raw vocals with the serene production, musical bliss occurs. The song’s progression unveils a poignant rebuke of maintaining appearances out of fear, and questions the long term cost of clutching firmly to the past and not reaching for what could be. As D. Folks continues to hone in on his craft and original sound, he is putting on for Richmond Virginia in a major way.

Press play below to stream his new “The Truth” single and catch a new vibe.

It has been a long time since we heard from Mike Posner. The singer, who was introduced to the world via Big Sean’s breakout mixtape, Finally Famous, has been laying considerably low after the release of his 2010 debut, 31 Minutes to Takeoff.

Boasting four brand new songs, Mike Posner returns with The Truth, meanwhile preparing the release of his sophomore album, later this year. Listen to The Truth and if you dig it, be sure to cop it June 22nd.

Elliott Wilson, editor-in-chief of RESPECT., meets with Jigga to discuss myriad topics from the rapper’s lengthy and loaded career. With Magna Carta Holy Grail as a starting point, Jay Z addresses everything from collaborating with Justin Timberlake and collecting art, to shooting the Samsung commercial without a script, counting digital sales, and having bigger things to worry about than paparazzi. A man who wears many hats, Hov contends that this spectrum of roles reflects his individuality, asking “What’s the sense of being successful if you can’t still be yourself?”

Watch the first part of the interview below, and stay tuned for part two, scheduled to be released later today.
