New Music: Aaron Knight Drops Roll It

Aaron Knight had a tremendous start to his campaign with the premiere of his single “OG” via The Fader. Subsequently, the track was picked up by virtually every major outlet and has garnered him great reviews from fans and critics alike. Looking to pick up right where he left off, the Sunnyside, Queens, NY native returns with his follow up single titled “Roll It.”

Produced by Bangerz845, the bouncy cut finds Aaron Knight showcasing his melodic strengths and is sure to be yet another fan favorite.

Video: The Source Cypher – YC The Cynic, Black Dave, Dyme-A-Duzin, Danse (BKLYN STICKUP), Ceazar

Shouts to The Source for organizing such a solid lineup of New York talent. We’ve always got love for YC The Cynic, Danse, Dymez, and Black Dave here at RESPECT. The only real flaw in this cypher was the sequencing. It could have started with the gritty, sloppy Ceazar, followed by Danse, who channeled Styles P and DMX with a rugged and knowing verse, with the slippery rude Dyme-A-Duzin (“You were better off tweetin’, my nigga”) and the choppy and direct Black Dave falling in line to lead up to the anchor, The Cynic. The lanky scientist from the Bronx was in a different ~~league~~ sport on this one. “Fans threaten to break down the doors, break out the guards / they grew accustomed to digging my cuts, break out the gauze. / The team leader that’s unorthodox like the four corners / you on all fours in the fourth quarter / and calling for sweet Jesus.” You can’t slot a dude with one of the most original and show-stopping flows in the game–not to mention the fact that his content hold heaps of meaning–as the opener. It’s just unfair. Still, though, stick around for Danse and Dymez. If this were any other cypher, they would’ve been champs.

New Video: Maffew Ragazino – Unsigned Hype Freestyle

Maffew Ragazino Sr. pays tribute to The Source’s Unsigned Hype column with some bars in honor of his recent recognition. The Brownsville, Brooklyn-bred emcee goes in on this beat, and who doesn’t love when artists show some love for the blogs (see clip starting at :35). Ragazino Sr. doesn’t pull punches, and he’s been making a name for himself doing just that. I’m feeling his flow, and I’m eager to see what’s next for the up and coming Brownsville spitta.
