We were big fans of Cobe Obeah’s Dark Night album, and now he’s back in the studio cooking up a new project. “The Hunger (Strawberries)” takes Madlib’s “Strawberry Incense” beat for Erykah Badu and chops it up nicely (because everything sounds better chopped). The Inglewood wordsmith vents over Badu’s intoxicating background harmonizing and manages to lay his claim for his place in the game without sacrificing self-awareness and humility. The record will live on Obeah’s upcoming project, Betty King’s Griot, dropping this Spring. Stream it below.
