Photo: Anna Maconachy

Unless you are one of those super obsessive, die-hard, KiD CuDi Stans, you could probably agree that musically, he has drifted far away from the Cudder who gave us classic projects like A Kid Named Cudi and his debut album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day. With each project CuDi’s music grew less fun-loving and carefree and more dark and, for lack of a better word, depressing. However, The Moon Man has returned with a new one, and it is reminiscent of the Cudder of old.

Reuniting with producer Plain Pat, as well as Mike Dean, KiD CuDi drops off a brand new one simply titled “The Frequency”, and it is a vibe, indeed. With a beat that reminds you of a 2am night drive, CuDi hums, sings and even lyrically dances all over this one, like we always knew he could. This is what day one CuDi fans have been wanting, and perhaps he has heard (and actually listened to) our cries.

Or maybe not.

Maybe “The Frequency” is just a loosie for all of us to enjoy in the moment, without thinking too far ahead. In any event, let’s keep our fingers crossed that CuDi keeps the positive vibes coming, which make for sonic gems like this one. Take a listen to “The Frequency” down below, and pick up KiD CuDi’s latest album, Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven, if you don’t have it already.
