Last Week, The Cool Kids and The Boy Illinois put on an amazing performance selling out the show for Chicago’s Empty Bottle 25th Year anniversary. Illi kicked off the performance with his “I’m Home” KOTO Freestyle and had special guests YP & Tre Style as bonuses to the 30 min set that got the crowd even more hyped up.

He was a great warm up in getting the audience to respond to him as a new artist. He engaged them with hits from the DuSable project “Sell Again” (prod. by D Gaines) and closed out with fan favorite “Ruling Class.”

Today, The Boy Illinois releases a BLAZING new single entitled “Run the Summer”, a guaranteed summertime anthem.

Illi raps about his flare, style, finesse and rising status as a artist, and he’s never lacking. Produced by I.B.C.L.A.S.S.I.C., the head bopping track carries a vibe with the perfect drum undertone.

The Boy Illinois is ready for a takeover! Delivering bars like “Dress pants, dress shoes, chains on, no shirt. Before you test a player, I suggest you do your homework.” Chicago’s “best dressed rapper” and Lupe Fiasco’s prodigy just raised not only his bars, but his position in the ranks, claiming his success now and what’s to come.

If you’ve been sleeping on Virginia’s Kali Uchis, you seriously better cut it out. The Colombian-born singer released her debut album, Por Vida, earlier this year and it definitely had R&B/Soul enthusiasts talking.

Chuck Inglish, who we all know as one half of The Cool Kids, reworks on of the album’s lead singles, “Know What I Want”, giving it a retro Hip-Hop sound, while managing to maintain Kali’s soulful demeanor.

News: Sir Michael Rocks Reveals Banco Release Date, Cover & Tracklist; Drops “Playstation 1.5” Video

The long-awaited solo album from Sir Michael Rocks has finally received a release date. It has been awhile since we have heard new material from Mikey Rocks, with his last project, While You Wait…, having been released last year; but the rapper announced today that his album, Banco, will be released on July 29. The 16-song project will feature Mac Miller, Casey Veggies, Too Short, Chuck Inglish, and Trinidad James, as well as production by DJ Mustard. The Cool Kids rapper also premiered the album’s cover art (above) and the video for “Playstation 1.5.” Now that Banco is on the way, hopefully this means that The Cool Kids’ album, Shark Week, is just around the corner. New Video: Sir Michael Rocks – “Memo”

Strangely, for the “Memo” video Sir Michael Rocks isn’t anywhere near any limos or windows. Instead, he’s in the Everglades, in the company of alligators, boats and airboats. We’ve already written about “Memo” so there’s not much more to say about the song other than we’ve got some new information about its sample. It turns out that the organ that drives “Memo” is the same one that drives Madvillain‘s “Accordion,” both of which sample Daedalus‘ “Experience.” Check out “Memo” below. It looks like Sir Michael Rocks had a lot of fun making it.
