Back in December, Kendrick Lamar was a guest on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report and during his time there, he debuted a brand new song that featured Terrace Martin, Bilal, Anna Wise, and Thundercat. Many speculated the song would appear on To Pimp A Butterfly, but we now know (thanks to Martin) that was never the case.

According to Terrace Martin, who recently spoke to Complex, the song served more of a promotional purpose, as it was “just a moment” and “don’t even exist nowhere in the world.”

If you happened to catch the latest debate on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, you were in for an interesting panel discussion. This particular episode was about black fatherhood. As a guest on the panel, Common and other guests openly spoke about their relationships with their fathers, statistics and other topics including women and the Superbowl. During the shows“Keep It 100”segment, Wilmore asked, “If given the chance to play in the SuperBowl or watch your child being born, which would you choose?” (which is the situation Seahawks’ cornerback, Richard Sherman, almost found himself in.) Common gave the audience a laugh after playing his answer off rather smooth by asking whether it was his first child.

Last night, the “leader of West Coast rap” made an appearance on the final episode of The Colbert Report—Kendrick Lamar was the last musical guest to ever appear on the show. For the occasion, Lamar decided to premiere some new music, a track called “Untitled”.

In the wake of “i”, which received mixed reviews from fans (some love his fun, lighthearted style and others seek his harder-hitting street rapping), “Untitled” shows a different side of Lamar’s new style while also a return to some more familiar lyricism. The track is boisterous. At the build of each verse, Lamar descends into an insanity-inducing cacophony, which crescendos at the hook before returning again to cooler, slower rhymes.

Black Star, the duo of Mos Def and Talib Kweli, is set to premiere their new track “Fix Up” on tonight’s The Colbert Report. You can go over to Colbertnation.com, which will stream “Fix Up” as well as an exclusive performance of the group’s classic track “Astronomy (8^th Light)” from Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star.

The group also canceled their upcoming tour dates in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Anaheim, Charlotte, Cincinnati and Indianapolis. However, rescheduled dates for NYC and LA will be announced soon.
