No Malice already confirmed last month that there is not a new Clipse album on the way. However, the question has continued to be brought up. In a recent interview with Rapzilla at SXSW, No Malice once again put the rumors to bed. “No, I’m somewhere else now,” he said. “I am not doing another Clipse album, be very clear.” He also expressed his confusion with why this topic is still being discussed.

“People keep asking me about this Clipse album. I’ve been very clear, I’ve been very consistent from the beginning. I don’t know why I have to keep answering this question, but I don’t do that music anymore. Do people want me to keep repeating my past life? What I would like to think is that my audience that grew up with me are still growing up. I can’t cater to every generation that comes up under, it’s like repeating the third grade over and over and over again.”

The Virginia rapper credited this to his new Christian lifestyle. “Things that I used to really champion, I no longer do that. Things I used to have no trouble saying, things I used to have no trouble doing, now would definitely trouble me.” He also discussed his album Hear Ye Him and whether he will continue to make new music. “I may, I don’t know. I’ve come to find out that I can’t say what I’m doing next week, next year, next month, tomorrow, I don’t know. I take everything day-by-day, and I just go where I’m led.” Check out the video below.

If you are wondering whether or not No Malice will be featured on Pusha T‘s upcoming album My Name Is My Name . the answer is no. Pusha T gave a simple explanation in a recent interview:

The Clipse brand is so strong to me, that I don’t want to toy with that—outside of The Clipse. [If] we can figure out how to present this album to both of our likings, then you’ll have another Clipse album and we will treat it as The Clipse.

The Thornton brothers have released a new track titled, “Shame The Devil.” The two MCs work together once again not as the Clipse, but as individual MCs. It’s amazing that they still have such chemistry despite No Malice‘s new turn. Check out part of No Malice‘s second verse:

The night started with sets from R.O.Z. and his fellow EMB microphone fiends Big Lean and Teddy T, who provided a piff-tastic soundtrack while the crowd settled in.

The settlement was brought to a close when Pusha started his set. Moving from his verse on the “I Don’t Like” remix to The Clipse classic “Grindin’ ” then to the Birdman-fronted “What Happened To That Boy,” Pusha’s beginning was explosive. The crowd was clearly not ready for such a strong opening sequence. Midway during his set, which somehow maintained the bar-setting momentum of the opening, Pusha stated “I went to Hawaii for one month to record and when I came back home I was signed to G.O.O.D. Music.” Right on cue were G.O.O.D. bangers “Runaway”, “New God Flow” and “Lamborghini Mercy.” He’s been with G.O.O.D. for a relatively short time, but he’s already made quite a name for himself. Appropriately, before he relinquished the stage to Fab, he promoted his upcoming album My Name Is My Name, which drops on July 16th.

Fabolous’s backing band made adjustments during a short intermission. Yes, Fab plays with a band. But you knew that already – back to Winnipeg. Taking the Pusha-T route, Fab also started things off with a sequence of strong classics :“Holla Back”, “Superwoman” and “Breathe”. In response, ladies screamed, people banged on club windows (that were 9 feet off the ground) and guys in the front row gleefully swung their chains. Fun times. Fab then brought out Pusha for their aptly titled tour track “The Life is So Exciting,” from Fab’s Soul Tape 2. This track perfectly highlights why this tour works: Pusha’s signature snarling delivery perfectly compliments Fab’s laid-black flow.

The set continued with “Imma Do It” (remember his line “My attitude is celibate. I don’t give a f*ck!”?), “Everything, Everyday, Everywhere” featuring Keri Hilson and the Ryan Leslie-produced “You Be Killin Em”. The live drums really brought some of the songs to life: “You Be Killin Em” was one of them. Fabo ended the night with his single “Ready” from his upcoming album Loso’s Way 2: Rise to Power.

All in all, it was a fantastic night. It was very apparent why Fab and Pusha-T have had such long and productive careers. Hopefully, their two upcoming projects will extend that legacy.

When Lord Willin’ dropped back in 2002, you could feel the tremors it made. Backed by The Neptunes and fronted by Pusha T and his brother Malice, Lord Willin’ was a groundbreaking album that changed The Clipse‘s career forever. Ten years later, it still hits. Life and Times recently caught up with Pusha T to discuss both the legacy and the future. Peep this excerpt on “Grindin’.”

L+T: When you first heard “Grindin’,” did you expect it to be a staple of lunchrooms everywhere?

PT: I didn’t, but it was a record that I knew was gonna be way too innovative. I think it was probably the first time I rewrote a record—and a record that me and my brother honestly rewrote a couple of times—just because it was unorthodox, it was new. We were like, “Wait a minute, where does the beat start? Where’s the verse? Where’s the hook at?” It really threw us for a loop.

The way it was presented to me…I was actually home and Pharrell was in the studio and he called me and he was like, “Listen. Get up here right now. Get up here right now—I’ve got this record and if you’re not up here in 15 minutes I’m just giving it to JAY Z. I am. I’m giving it to him. If you’re not here in 15 minutes…I know you’re home. You’re home. You’re home. Your house is 10 minutes from here. That means you’ve got five minutes to get ready and get over here. If not, I’m giving it to Jay.” I couldn’t really deal with that. And I was there, needless to say, in 13 minutes (laughs).

The thought of hip hop in 2012 brings a hunger for more great sounds and artists since 2011 ushered in some top notch lyricism and non-wack essentials. However, we already got something to look forward to in 2013. Pusha T announced at his Gramercy Theatre show that he and Malice will have something cooked up for us by 2013. Got damn!
