After the weekly numbers were released on Sunday (Aug 19) showing that Astroworld artist Travis Scott nabbed the number one spot, Nicki Minaj has been seemingly tweeting erratically blaming her number two spot on almost everyone but herself.

The “Chun Li” rapper took to Twitter on Sunday and explained in a series of tweets how she believes the only reason why Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD earned the No. 1 spot on Billboard‘s 200 for the week was due to being featured as an amenity for his “ASTROWORLD: Wish You Were Here” tour merchandise bundles.

“I spoke to him,” Minaj tweeted. “He knows he doesn’t have the #1 album this week.”

Although sales were the latest reason for her rant, it wasn’t the only shade thrown over the course of the weekend. After a scathing article was published in Pitchfork criticizing Minaj for working with convicted child sex offender Tekashi69, Minaj lashed out at media claiming that she received “information” that media outlets were being “paid” to slander her.

All of these antics not only left fans scratching their heads but according to Charlamagne Tha God proved that Nicki’s antics earned her the hilarious spot of “Donkey of the day.”

During the hilarious eight-minute segment, Charlamagne drops some jewels for Minaj letting her know that the number two spot isn’t the worst position to be in and even complimented her new album as being the best from the Young Money queen yet.

“Nicki you must have been watching too much Talladega Nights because the ‘if you’re not first you’re last’ mentality is not true. You put out a good body of work and sold 185,000 units, you right now are being a sore winner. Nothing you’re doing is queen-like and let’s say that all of the people are to blame for you having the number two album in the country, who was to blame for you having the number two album in 2015 because Pink Print did the same.”

Charlamagne then went on to warn Nicki to cherish her success at where she is, before playing her 2014 hit “Did It On ‘Em”, before adding the shadiest moment of all by allowing Nicki’s nemesis to give her “Donkey of the Day.”

“Put your number twos in the air Nicki and celebrate that win. What you don’t cherish Nicki, you will lose. Somebody get Remy Ma to giver her Donkey of the Day.”

The Source Magazine released their Power 30 issue this month. The nostalgic cover of the magazine featured a recreation of the December 1997 magazine that featured AZ, Nas and Foxy Brown of the legendary hip hop group the firm.

The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne tha God, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy were on the recreation of the cover.

Entertainment attorney and The Source Magazine’s chairman, L. Londell McMillan dropped by The Breakfast Club to discuss The Power 30 issue.

While on the show, McMillan was peppered with questions from Charlamagne  tha God about rapper, Jay-Z.

On his summer released 4:44, Jay-Z made direct references to McMillan, a former lawyer and confidant to late musical icon, Prince in his song, “Caught Their Eyes.”

On the track, the Brooklyn rapper says:

“I sat down with Prince, eye to eye/He told me his wishes before he died/Now, Londell McMillan, he must be color blind/They only see green from them purple eyes” and “This guy had ‘Slave’ on his face/You think he wanted the masters with his masters?/You greedy bastards sold tickets to walk through his house/I’m surprised you ain’t auction off the casket.”

McMillan seemed perplexed by the mention. “Again, you have to ask Hov because I was the guy who got ‘slave’ off his face,” McMillan told The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne tha God.

Added McMillan:  “Prince hired me to get him out of the contract with Warner Bros. He called me the emancipator. I asked Prince when I first met him, ‘How do we get that slave off your face?’ Prince said, ‘You get me free, I’ll take slave off my face.’”

McMillan said that in a conversation with Prince he told him that freedom is not free.

“You think Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and Frederick Douglass just woke up one day and they want free? We’re going to have to fight for freedom. He said, ‘I’m ready to fight.’ We win and we were successful. I went from his lawyer to his manager to his partner.”

McMillan who manages half o the heirs of Prince’s estate defended his decision to sell tickets for fans to walk through Prince’s Paisley Park mansion “Anyone who knew Prince really knew that Prince left instructions to leave Paisley Park as a museum,” said McMillan.

“He left instructions to at least 20, 30 people, so that was a fact. In fact, he started writing out the plans for that.”

When asked on why Jay-Z chose to mention him in his song, McMillan says that he believes that Jay-Z was getting misinformation and information. “Jay usually doesn’t get press from things like that,” he said.

“What I’ve seen from my dealings with him. He’s usually a cool guy. I wanted to keep any beefs directly, but if he wants to talk about it privately or publicly. If you want to come up here and talk about it, we can have that conversation.”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, Carmelo Anthony is a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Last month the Knicks and Thunder engaged in a blockbuster deal that shipped Anthony to the Thunder in exchange for Enes Kanter.

The move merged Anthony with the NBA’s reigning league MVP Russell Westbrook and three-time All NBA forward Paul George.

Anthony will get his first crack at his former team when the Knicks and Thunder tip off at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, OK on Thursday.

It’s a very complicated dialogues to have. Individually Melo had it made in the Big Apple. A ten-time NBA All Star, Anthony played seven seasons as a Knick where he averaged 24.7 points, posted 7 rebounds and dished 3.2 assists per game.

Anthony was traded to NYC in 2011 for everything but the kitchen sink!

The Knicks sent Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and three draft picks to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Anthony Carter.

That deal bore fruit to a disaster that lasted longer than a New York Minute. Six years later, the Knicks have only had one 50-win season in the last decade.

For those keeping score at home: the Knicks were 207-269 while Anthony was a member of the team.

During that time, the orange and blue have won only one of four playoff series and missed the postseason each of the past four years.

“His jersey would never get retired,” Power 105’s The Breakfast Club’s DJ Envy told me on a recent episode of Scoop B Radio. “I think that Melo deserves to get his jersey retired.”

Anthony is one of the greatest scorers and purest small forwards to play the game. As a Knick, Anthony broke Bernard King’s longstanding Knicks 61-point single game scoring record and Kobe Bryant’s 60-point mark for the most points ever scored at Madison Square Garden.

DJ Envy doesn’t blame Anthony’s departure from the Knicks. “If I am Melo I would leave,” he said.

“I love Melo. I think Melo being in New York, coming to the Knicks is bad. I think the management is bad and I think they really don’t know what they are doing. I don’t like how they pick players, I don’t like how they respect their players, but I am a Knicks fan and I always have been a Knicks fan.”

With Anthony now in the Knicks’ rearview, the team has built around center, Kristaps Porzingis. In the offseason, they signed Tim Hardaway Jr. and added Michael Beasley.

Knicks fans love the past and are certainly in love with the 90s era of basketball. Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck detailed it in his: With Little to Cheer in the Present, Knicks and Their Fans Trapped in the Past column earlier this year.

What if the Knicks got it together with Melo there?  “Melo is 36 years old still knocking out 25 points a game,” said DJ Envy.

Added DJ Envy of Anthony who turned 33 in May: “It’s not Melo. It’s the team.”

Born in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, NY, Anthony lived in the borough for part of his formative years. He relocated to Baltimore, Maryland where he starred at nearby Towson Catholic before transferring to national basketball powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, VA.

Anthony’s move to NYC after winning a National Championship at Syracuse and playing seven years with the Denver Nuggets had the makings of a grand coming home party.

No such luck!  Always gracious in interviews, public appearances and even when he was off the clock, Anthony played it cool until the very end.

In a recap I wrote on Anthony’s Pro Camps basketball camp a few years ago, Anthony said: “My window is closing, so I’m trying to get this championship to New York ASAP.”

You wanted to believe it. But it was hard to believe that from 2013-2017 when a guy named LeBron James, one of Anthony’s closest friends, was running the NBA’s Eastern Conference and led both the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals.

Keep in mind: During Anthony’s tenure with the Knicks, he had 72 different teammates. Of that lucky number 72, only Tyson Chandler made an All-Star team during the same season as Melo.

Coaching changes, trades and a very public feud with former team president Phil Jackson created a recipe for disaster that the team never really recovered from.

Ah yes, then there was the notion that the Knicks would re-live the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles, Tex Winter designed triangle offense. “You can’t put Melo in and run a triangle offense,” said DJ Envy.

“It isn’t going to work. You have to work with everybody. I’ve got two sons and three daughters. What I do with my fifteen year old is not going to work with my four year old. I can’t treat them the same way. I have to take each individual situation and break it down that way.”

Both Melo and the Knicks have moved on. Melo’s parting gift to New York is Hoodie Melo!

All parties in the Knicks/Anthony melo-drama are turning the page from their seven year marriage and amicable divorce.

All involved are in a new relationship and have new relationship goals. The plot thickens, however when all parties involved will run into each other for the first time while on their date at 8 in Oklahoma City.

Host of one of the hottest morning radio shows in the nation, DJ Envy chatted with me about his journey from being DJ Shrimp to working from any and everyone that is hot in the nation.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Last year  I had a podcast over at play.it called Brown and Scoop. We would take a photo in front of the CBS sign and I would put my right leg on the back  of the wall. Where did that come from?

DJ Envy: You know I don’t I know. At the end of the day I’m a Queens n**** and that is just some Queens shit and that is what it is. I really don’t know what it is I have been doing it since I was a kid and that is my swag, my style,my thing. I didn’t really notice it. People just started pointing it out to me when I was doing it.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: You’ve got a new something going out with Fetty Wap right now. Tell me about it.

DJ Envy: New single is called “Text Your Number.” It is my first single off my album. Like I said, it features Fetty Wap. It features DJ Sliink. It is called “Text Your Number” and it’s off my album, Just A Kid From Queens. It comes out next year sometime.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: One thing that I find very interesting about you is the fact that you have the balance being college educated, you are a Hampton University Alum and you have your foot in hip hop. That is rare. Someone that is able to balance corporate, street and education. Why is that so important for someone of your stature that is a DJ and hosts a top rated radio program?

DJ Envy: I think for myself, I don’t have my foot in hip hop. I am hip hop. That is how I was born. I didn’t look at it like: I have to get into hip hop. That is how I was raised listening to the music. I enjoyed the parties. I enjoyed the clubs, the DJ aspects of it, the graffiti aspect of it, the dancing aspect of it. It’s just how I was raised. It wasn’t like I was anything but hip hop, you know? I was just a person that loved hip hop, that went to school, got my degree and then when I graduated said: ‘I gotta  do something that I am going to enjoy.’  I was DJing at the time and I was like: ‘listen this is what I am going to do.’ I am going to try and make money off of it. I didn’t have any responsibilities, all I had was school loans. I didn’t have a car or a crib. I lived with my mom and I was like: ‘I am going to give it a shot.’ I didn’t have no kids and the rest is history.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: A guy that I interviewed and featured a couple of years ago is DJ Steph Floss out in Cleveland. He told me a story about how the movie, Juice inspired him. His mom wouldn’t let him spin records in the house, but when he got his refund check in college at Ohio State, he bought a DJ set and aspin table. Do you have any stories like that? What got you beginning to spin?

DJ Envy: Mine was DJ Clue. Clue was my neighbor and I knew him as Ernesto. Like we used to ride bikes together and play ball together. I didn’t know he was a DJ. One day I was waiting for the bus going to school and I seem him drive by and at the time he had a Honda Accord. Honda Accord when we was kids that was the BMw, that was your Lexus, that was your Mercedes. He had that and I asked him what he did and he told me he DJ’ed and I was like: ‘Yeah aight!’ I thought he sold drugs at the time. I didn’t have any money, I was broke and all I wanted to buy was some sneakers, so I was like alright. So one day he was like: ‘come by my house and he will show me.’ I went by his house and I saw tons of mixtapes turntables, CDJs and everything.  Right then and there. I was like: ‘ok I am going to give this a shot.’ And you know, I would call Clue and ask what turntable should  I buy? And he would tell me and I’d buy one turntable. I would work some more and save some money and buy another turntable, buy records and then the rest of it I just started. I started as a host. I was an MC. It was DJ Mono and DJ Shrimp was my name. And together we were Envy Productions.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Why Shrimp?

DJ Envy: I was shorter at the time. I was 5’2 and I was real small. So I was like shrimp and what people don’t know is together we were Envy productions. But back in the day we would stamp the cassette tapes Envy. When my partner, the guy that actually taught me how to physically dj, Mono stopped DJ’ing, we weren’t making no money. We were just doing it for fun. He stopped doing it and when I continued to do it, I would hand off the mixtapes to the Africans on Jamaica Ave, & 125th Street, they would be like: ‘oh you got the new Envy?’  And the name Envy just stuck and I went with it.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: I had DJ Clue actually on Scoop B Radio a few weeks ago and we talked about the evolution of the DJ. You look at The Breakfast Club. You have Angela Yee who was a manager of someone you have Charlemagne who was Robin to somebody’s Batman and you have you, who is aDJ. You guys are the underdog. What is next for the DJ?

DJ Envy: I mean, a DJ can never go anywhere. It is not like the DJ is going to be nonexistent and they are going to have robots spinning. The DJ has to feel the crowd. It’s just the type of DJ has changed. At first it was the pop DJ and then it was the mixtape DJ. Then it has changed a little bit. Mixtapes don’t really matter anymore because artists do their own stuff. Before it was all about exclusives. That doesn’t matter anymore. DJs are still existent. You look at the radio, you look at clubs. You look at: you still have to go out every night and you want the DJ to spin the dopest s***. So the DJ will never go anywhere, just like the way of doing it will change. Like with me, it is just a matter of changing your platform. I was a mixtape DJ making a lot of money, making mixtapes. I was making 20 or 30 thousand doing mixtapes a month at the age of 20, 21,22 years old. I knew it was about to end. I seen it before it happened. So I was like: ‘Alright I’m going to jump on the radio.’ Some DJ’s didn’t. You can name 20 or 30 DJs that were doing mixtapes back then, that you don’t know where they are right now because they didn’t see it. You have to foresee everything and that’s the same thing today. I went to the radio and started mixtaping on the radio and i was like: ‘alright.’ And everybody was like nice DJ. Let me stop yelling on the radio and start being a personality and learn how to interview somebody and learn how to talk. learn how to almost be like a point guard where I can pass the ball to Charlemagne and pull it back and pass it to Angela Yee and be able to make a play like that. You know, it is foreseeing what the future is.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Ok. So I think it’s interesting. It must be instinct because when you look at LL Cool J, a guy that was on ‘In the House,’ he was able to transition from hip hop to acting. Was there someone in your ear? Or was it just your foresight? What was the light that came on?

DJ Envy: I think for myself, I always next. I always want what’s next and I alway want more. Even when I am doing this album, I did an album in 2003, but I wasn’t there yet. I was good and we did 60 or 70 thousand units, but now I am in a better position. So me doing an album now, means a lot more to the people. I owned a sneaker store before, I owned a car wash before, that is cool. But now me owning a juice bar, is I am in a better position to talk about a juice bar and really do it. I own a Soda company, I own so many different companies and real estate. So many different things that I can profit from. You know, before I was living check to check. Now I can throw some stuff out there and see if it sticks. If it sticks, great. My whole family is set for life. If it doesn’t, then ok we keep pushing.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: When do you sleep?

DJ Envy: I don’t. I take naps. That’s the truth. I try to take naps. With me, I don’t have many hobbies and the reason I don’t have many hobbies is because if I have time for a hobby, I have time to take a nap. So like some people take flights and they read or listen to music while they are on the flight, but I sleep. Some people play video games. If I play video games I am playing with my son because it is bonding time because I enjoy playing with him. But I am not going to be at home playing video games by myself. I really don’t watch TV shows, the only TV show I watch which is my little guilty pleasure is Game of Thrones. Other than that, I really don’t watch TV, I don’t have time.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: I think that it’s interesting that hip hop has kind of gone Barbara Walters, in a sense. You are able to get those interviews that everybody wants to see. When you do interviews for The Breakfast Club have you ever consulted with journalists on how to conduct the perfect interview”

DJ Envy: No. I mean, no not at all. And I think that The Breakfast Club has really opened it up for people outside of the hip hop community to want to do interviews because they see how far our reach is; how far our arm goes. No. I never reached out to anybody. I always watch and see how people do interviews, but here it is a little different. Here we all kind of have roles and I know what my role is here. I know that if there is a question that is controversial, it sounds better coming from Charlemagne because that is out character. It is what it is. It is kind of like, I can dunk on a player in the NBA and it be like: ‘ok Envy dunked on a  player.’ But now, if Blake Griffin dunks on somebody, everybody is like: ‘oh shit!’mIt is what it is. That is what keeps our show alive and that is what keeps our show good. If all three members of The Breakfast Club are all saying things that are controversial, you get to the point where you really don’t like them and that whole show is negative. If you get  a little bit out of Charlemagne and a little bit out of Yee and a little bit out of me, it keeps it balanced. And a well balanced show there is always someone that agrees with Charlamagne, there is always someone that agrees with me, there is always someone that agrees with Angie. But if we all have the same mentality, then people will be like: ‘no i don’t f*** with them.’ It is that perfect balance that makes The Breakfast Club really successful and everybody really wants to come on the show and give us that reach. We all grind and act like we are broke.

Known for their sublimated clothing, Wooter Apparel, began their wave as a sports/tech startup after creating their Wooterapp.

The brand aggressively marketed and expanded their reach to clothing. As a result, they’ve made headway with the extension to their brand, with their newest creation called Medusa.

Medusa went for the jugular too.

Teaming up with New Orleans No Limit Soldier, Master P,  Medusa is outfitting the hip hop icon’s new GMGB co-ed league and designing their brand, logos and outfitting the whole league.

Master P began the Medusa’s rollout process when he appeared on nationally syndicated Power 105’s The Breakfast Club with Angela Yee, DJ Envy and Charlamagne. Master P sported the product and is pleased with the new partnership.

“Medusa is the next biggest street brand,” Master P told me via e-mail.

Wooter’s CEO Alex Aleksandrovski was in attendance along with Wooter’s CMO Alex Kagan were in attendance at the GMCB co-ed league in Las Vegas, Nevada a few weeks ago and they both like what they saw.

“Working with P has been amazing,” Alexandrovski told RESPECT Magazine by phone.

“I hope people are ready for what’s coming next from Medusa.”

Recently, Medusa released their ‘Wave Two’ line of their new apparel which is available to be both viewed and pre-ordered at officialmedusa.com.

Medusa is a symbol of luxury and elegance the shirt styles are simple yet carry a regal look.You can don it on the basketball courts, wear it to the club or lounge at the house while playing NBA 2K18 and enjoy it too.

Power 105 The Breakfast Club’s DJ Envy Caught up with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson on Scoop B Radio. Press Play Below To Listen.

Every weekday morning, listeners are treated to the commentary of Charlamagne, Angela Yee and DJ Envy on New York’s Power 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club.

Interviews with notables in pop culture like Puff Daddy, Jay-Z, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Kanye West is what makes the show, THE SHOW!

One of the most notable interviews on The Breakfast Club was when Brian “Birdman Williams appeared on the show and told everyone to ‘put some respek on his name.’

“This also proves how big the Breakfast Club is with pop culture,” Breakfast Club host, DJ Envy told me on Scoop B Radio.

“You have people on American Idol saying: are you finished are you done? You had sports analysts and regular TV anchors [saying] are you finished or are you done? That came from a Breakfast Club Interview. You had white kids, black kids, asian kids. You know? You name it, Spanish; watching that interview. People that might not know about the Breakfast Club watched that interview.”

The show is a major success, but there are a few interviews that are missing from the trio’s accomplishment depth chart. “I would definitely love to do Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey,” said DJ Envy.

Ah, yes, Harpo’s finest!

Winfrey has been featured in TIME Magazine‘s 100 most influential people, ten times and is the chairwoman and CEO of both Harpo Productions and The Oprah Winfrey Network.

If that isn’t impressive enough, Winfrey is co-author of five books and a philanthropist who started The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, a school designed to educate and develop the leadership skills of young women in South Africa.

DJ Envy says having Winfrey on The Breakfast Club Would be an honor.

“To see her struggle and where she came from and how she was able to create that huge, huge conglomerate and have it succeed I would definitely love to do that,” he said.

You know you are official tissue paper when Carlton Banks once did his infamous dance to the original theme song of Oprah’s show while Winfrey made a cameo on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Like Winfrey, President Obama also has ties to Chicago.

Creator of the Affordable Healthcare Act, Obama oversaw Al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden and former Iraq President Saddam Hussein being removed from power. Additionally, the Obama administration provided payment to wronged minority farmers, assisted South Sudan in declaring independence and the former president also passed the fair sentencing act. His journey inspires DJ Envy.  “I would love to see what was in his mind as a child that he [thought he] could be President,” he said.

“Because  I know when I was a kid, I never thought I could be President. It was never even an inkling in my mind. A black kid from Queens? President?! Come on! That’s something white men do.”

So what’s holding up progress to get them both up there, Envy? “Time,” he said.

“I think we will. I think we absolutely will. We had Hillary Clinton up in here. Who ever would have thought Hillary Clinton would be up in here?”  

DJ Envy also says that had Michael Jackson been living he’d easily make his wish list. Not only did DJ Envy talk Oprah and President Obama on Scoop B Radio, he also discussed, Carmelo Anthony, the state of the New York Knicks,  Odell Beckham Jr and the New York Giants and how DJ Clue inspired him.
