Kendrick Lamar‘s Damn album is hot. Hot, hot—fish grease hot. The talk of the town hot. Mainstream hot. It’s so hot it’s cold, and the buzz surrounding it isn’t letting up anytime soon. Every outlet and media personality worth mentioning has chimed in with their opinion about the LP.

Recently, The Guardian’s Kitty Empire listed Damn as her album of the week calling it another dial shifting release.

This is more of what Kitty had to say: “Damn trolls the mainstream hard, in part via a handful of Mike Will Made-It productions,” she said. “Anything pop rappers do, Lamar can do, Lamar seems to be saying, he can do better. And, as a track called Element has it, ‘make it look sexy.”

Most recently, Compton rapper, Problem, and Kendrick’s longtime collaborator Terrace Martin shared their opinions on Beats 1 Radio’s The Pharmacy show.

Dubbed as Kendrick’s secret weapon, Terrace is also the rapper’s longtime producer and saxman. And Problem and Terrace has been spending plenty of time in the studio since Kendrick retweeted the following Twitter update from Problem’s timeline.

It’s encouraging to know that the top MC from our side (Compton), arguably in the game is still pushing the limits…it makes you want to add another sense of integrity to your work ethic. – Problem

That retweet had the whole Twitterverse talking. Is TDE working on new material already? Maybe, maybe not, stay tuned.

After experiencing the success and critical acclaim Kendrick Lamar did upon releasing his debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, many Hip-Hop fans were worried he’d experience somewhat of a sophomore slump. However, he didn’t rush into releasing new music, in hopes of maintaining his buzz. Instead, he took the time required to put together an album that he believes will have people saying this album is better than his last. When he released its’ first single “i,” it didn’t instantly appeal to urban radio listeners. However, over time Hip-Hop heads began to take a liking to it and it was announced as the official song of the 2014-2015 NBA season.

Last night, he decided to release its’ follow-up single to “i” (which is currently on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for 11 weeks and running,)  as he performed on the last episode of “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central. The song’s title has yet to be announced, however it does feature production from Astronote (who is known for remixing classic Hip-Hop tracks from legendary artists such as Biggie and Jay-Z.) Thundercat and Terrance Martin joined Lamar for the live performance of the song, but isn’t known if they will appear on the studio album version of the song.
