The Minnesota Vikings suffered a huge loss this week in a preseason practice after Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a major knee injury through a non-contact practice and is out for the entire NFL season. This devastating blow to the organization not only included the loss of their star before the regular season actually started, but also their backup Joel Stave, who is out with a hand injury.   

With the absence of their starting and backup quarterback, they are attempting to find a valuable replacement to call the shots for the organization’s offense.  Possible replacements include Colin Kapernick after possibly being released from the San Francisco 49er’s,  Michael Vick among others. Many Vikings fans were shocked to hear one possible replacement may be Mark Sanchez. Despite having a very difficult career on the New York Jets, Sanchez improved his numbers when he played for the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2014-2015 season. Even though he is currently signed with the Denver Broncos as a replacement for Peyton Manning’s retirement, the Vikings may look to trade in order to place a bandage on this wound.  At first glance Mark Sanchez may not seem like a legitimate pick for Minnesota’s football team, however, after further investigation, I came to the conclusion that it wouldn’t be that bad.  Last year Sanchez had a completion percentage of 64.8% and a QBR of 80.7.  In 2014, he completed 64.1% of his passes and had one of the highest QBR with 88.4. These numbers prove that Mark Sanchez can be a solid quarterback for the Vikings as a replacement for Bridgewater.

It is unfortunate that the team suffered such a tragic loss in the preseason.  Even though Teddy Bridgewater was a very valuable player, with other quarterbacks in the league, he can be replaced.
