The two race over this heart pounding Lexnour Beats track in a dazzling lyrical competition that will literally leave listeners breathless.

Even Tech N9ne himself is impressed saying, “When I saw the title of the song, I said… HOLY SCHEISSE! I’m gonna have to go “FASTER”! Haha, indeed we DID go! Thanx Dax!”

The accompanying video is even more spectacular, if that is possible. Covid shutdowns might have made the filming of a regular video unsafe but DAX has turned those lemons in to a glorious animated production that could set the bar for animated music videos for the foreseeable future.

This is dope. First off, one has to pay homage: much like E-40, it’s amazing to see the legend Tech N9ne continue to create dope music at such a high level.

For his latest, he delivers a cinematic visual accompaniment to “Levitation,” the latest single from his twentieth (!) album Planet which features assistance from rising star (and RESPECT. favorite) Navé Monjo. The Morgan Cooper-directed clip “follows a boxer’s journey and his determination to succeed for the love of his family.”

Check it out below.

When it comes to Hip-Hop many people don’t think of Topeka, Kansas as being a place to bring the heat, but native Dre-Roc has set out to disprove that theory.

An artist/mixing engineer who’s been making music with some well-known artists including Bizzy, Jay Hype, and Tech N9ne, Dre-Roc decided to step back into the arena of an artist after more than a two-year hiatus, dropping two new singles, while continuing to bridge the gap of experience and new sounds to the music of others.

“I could always make my own music” Dre-Roc stated. “But I find it more meaningful to share and teach the beauty of music to others”.

In regards to why Kansas is still very slept on when it comes to being cited as bringing the noise to the mainstream, Dre-Roc says that approach and timing plays a huge part.

“Approach. The approach is everything. I’m in love with the process, not just the end result,” he continued. “People don’t realize that [Topeka] and the Midwest overall is up to speed and growing, but highly slept on.”

If the two releases are a glimpse of what the Midwest can bring to the table, it seems like we all need to be all ears.

Check out the singles and video below, and follow Dre-Roc here on Facebook.

What? Phonte dropped a new album? Some two years ago, the Little Brother alum spoke of No News Is Good News, an official follow-up to 2011’s Charity Starts At Home. Now, that project arrives with 10 new tracks and features from Freddie Gibbs and Eric Roberson — a surprise for the fans, as well as “for Dad, Grandad, Uncle Mike and Aunt Donna.” Very excited to unpack this one.

We’ve got a banger on our hands!
Beatnick, K-Salaam, Tech N9ne and Wrekonize built 2003-2005 neo-soul and hip nostalgia back with their latest “Movin It” track.

No lies!!

Beatnick & K-Salaam ft.
Man it legitimately sounds like a combination of Outkast’s Bomb’s Over Baghdad coupled with the feel of Talib Kweli’s Just To Get By!

According to a press release sent over to RESPECT Magazine, the first single off the upcoming album The Bluest Flame, finds Tech and Wrek skating over the high octane track that combines Trap with Rock and R&B, accompany that with some bangin drums and a unique musical style that is both innovative and vintage at the same time.

Adding words to the stellar production are the likes of Talib Kweli, Bun-B, Blu, Joell Ortiz and more. The scene has officially been for the kind of hip-hop and real music that the game has been missing.

“We make all of our beats from scratch,” K-Salaam, tells RESPECT Magazine.

He added:

“We design our own sounds, our own drums, we come up with new chord progressions. We don’t need to sample, but people are already sampling us.”

The Bluest Flame drops August 25th worldwide. Worth noting, the duo is also releasing their Reggae EP “Give Love” w/ Junior Reid on the same day.

Krizz’s upcoming album, Go (which is slated for a 4/8 release date) is a 16-track work that includes features from all of Strange’s usual suspects. (Tech, Rittz, Stevie Stone, etc.) What’s seemingly the most interesting part of “Behave” is the fact Krizz tackles a funky, Euro-pop style vibe, blending it with fire from Tech N9ne who delivers his signature double-time rhymes schemes which still is able to give it the feel of what Strange Music has spent nearly two decades cultivating. “Behave” incorporates great, feel-good energy with the indie label’s stamp, offering up the best of two musical worlds. Since dropping his debut album Vitiligo in 2008, Go will act as his sixth album, allowing fans of old and new to view him in truly a crooner capacity, erasing all pre-conceived notions about him as an artist or Strange as a label. This record crosses all boundaries in music and is just the right touch of soft melody and a hardcore Hip-Hop pretense that avid followers of the label have come to expect and moreover, love. Stream “Behave” below and make sure to Pre-Order the album Go HERE
