“Baby, I’m just tryna lay my hair down,” SiR says in the chorus. The term simply means to live in the moment and that’s exactly what the two do on this track. New York musician and songstress Puck, has released her debut single “Dreams“. Being the longtime keyboardist for SZA, gave her the courage she needed, to embark on an independent solo career. As Fleetwood Mac is one of her musical influences, it was a no brainer for her to release her debut material, paying homage to him. This cover record showcases Puck’s raw talent, all the while showing how much of a student of music she is.

You will hear the songbird harmonizing about having “crystal vision” as her flawless vocals glides over the poppy, ethereal beat. The most impressive thing about this release is Puck’s unique tone of voice. It almost has a daunting effect, intriguing the ear to want more. With “Dreams” she took a classic song, and made it her own. Her knowledge, creativity and artistic ability, truly thrives like never before.

Any true fan of good music will become an instant fan of this release. Puck’s Seattle upbringing, and Brooklyn swag set the tone for her original sound. She is scheduled to perform her debut single at elsewherespace in Brooklyn, next week. In the meantime, check it out below.

Reason is a rising artist out of California that we suggest you get to know here and now. As the newest signee of TDE Records, Reason brings more of the authentic true-to-life stories that the label is well known for, fitting right in with the current star line-up. Recently, I had the chance to catch up with this talented artist while he was visiting New York City to discuss his latest project ”There You Have It” and to detail his inspiration behind the project. Get to know Reason below.

RESPECT.: How’s NYC treating you today?

Reason: New York is dope, it’s like one of the few places I can see myself living in outside of LA. I love all the chaos and how busy it is.

RESPECT.: So you’re fresh off the Big Redemption tour with Jay Rock. How did this tour come together, and what was it like for you as a new signee of TDE to be on this national tour?

RESPECT.: So my favorite track is “Better Days” because the story, the beat and the video is perfect. Do you have a personal favorite on There You Have It? If so, why?

Reason: My favorite track from There You Have It seems to switch all the time, but one of my favorite tracks was actually a track we ended up cutting off of the re-release but was on the original, it’s called “Spring Diaries.” But as of now, my favorite track is “State We In,” it’s been the track I’ve been listening to the most and it’s the one that’s hitting home the most, just for where my life is at this moment.

RESPECT.: So I have to ask, how and why did you go with the name Reason? Let us know the story behind the name.

Reason: I feel like to reason with someone is to come to a middle ground and I feel like that’s what my music represents: being in the middle of things and on the middle ground of situations and I feel it’s the perfect place to reason.

RESPECT.: Your music contains subject matter that brings listeners closer to your actual life story, and who you are and the things that affect you as a person. Why did you choose to go this route instead of the dance-heavy route that is so popular in today’s Hip-Hop?

Reason: I just feel that the music connects better if it’s real. I make my music so you can listen to it 24/7, and not just on the weekend. I just really wanted to be able to connect with the people because I understand life is hard and I’ve gone through it and so I just hope when people listen to my music that it can inspire them to keep going and that they can come out on the other side…for me, it’s a therapeutic way to get my message out and to let people know they aren’t alone.

RESPECT.: Closing out 2018 on to 2019, what can we expect for you alongside the TDE family?

Reason: I want to finish up strong and release a couple of loose records and then try to follow-up with a small project at the beginning of the year before my official TDE debut and stay strong and finish up the tour.

Miguel, singer and producer from California, made his epic return to New Haven, Connecticut. It was a special night for the artist because he had never played at the College Street Music Hall, the venue that held the event. Fans were given an unforgettable performance on a historic night.

Joining Miguel on tour is TDE’s own, SiR. SiR’s new project, November is a melodic, soulful piece that was a huge success. The project was personal and had no help from any other artists except for the song, “Something Foreign,” that featured label mate, ScHoolboy Q. Top Dawg Entertainment’s (TDE) taste in artists have been undeniably superior and as of late, the addition of a new R&B prospect shows they don’t intend to slow down. SiR’s performance was a sample of what’s to expect on The Championship Tour this summer with the rest of his TDE family.

A cold, windy night didn’t stop thousands of fans from waiting in a huge line to gain entry. An incredible live band assisted Miguel in recreating hits from all his previous albums. He performed songs like “All I Want Is You,” “Arch & Point,” and “Adorn.” He also performed songs he was featured on like “Lotus Flowerbomb” and “Power Trip.” A venue full of screaming women made it nearly impossible to talk to the person next you. The vocalist sang beautifully, sounding exactly how he does on record. His skills as a guitar player are also under appreciated. Miguel joined his live band to bring his own twist of strings to the music. A great performance by a great artist.

ScHoolboy Q dodged a major case that would’ve been extremely difficult to bounce back from.

Back in March, a felony armed robbery took place after a Los Angeles show of his.

The alleged victims followed ScHoolboy Q to an after party and claimed to be robbed at gunpoint. Here is where things get interesting. Earlier this week, the District Attorney chose to dismiss his robbery case–based on inconclusive evidence.

According to TMZ, after the robbery happened, the victims claimed they witnessed Q arrive in another vehicle as the crime went down. The victims revealed the TDE rapper “never participated in the actual robbery.” Q was assumed the mastermind due to his vehicle arriving as the robbery was happening.

With a severe lack of evidence and witness, the case was dismissed allowing ScHoolboy Q to walk away unharmed.

Joey Bada$$ is set to release his new album ALL AMERIKKKAN BADA$$ (AABA) on April 7th which will feature guest appearances from J. Cole, ScHoolboy Q, and Styles P among many others.

The long awaited release marks the Brooklyn-bred MC’s second major studio album and is it set to drop the same day as Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated and still-untitled LP.

One of the collaborations that fans were eagerly waiting to hear is the ScHoolboy Q featured ‘Rockabye Baby’, which does not disappoint. The gritty track proves that the duo is a force to be reckoned with lyrically, and very aware of what’s going on in politics as Joey disses Donald Trump again as he spits:

“Time is running up, feel the burn in my gut/ and if you got the guts, scream, ‘Fuck Donald Trump.'”

Not one to disappoint on any flow, Schoolboy Q follows with a slow-burning verse that begins with him rhyming over an acoustic guitar melody before building to a vernacular pitch, as he rhymes:

“From gettin’ lynched in fields into owning buildings/ getting millions, influencing white children/ And oddly we still ain’t even/ Still a small percentage of blacks that’s eating.”

TDE songstress SZA not only made her debut on national television, but also gave fans a preview of new and unreleased songs.

During her appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel, SZA announced the title of her upcoming album, CTRL, and also performed the first single off of the project entitled “Drew Barrymore.” SZA also revealed that the new album would feature “twoAM,” her previously released rework of PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake‘s “Come and See Me.”

SZA, whose last album, Z, came out in 2014, has been making headlines after an intimate performance in NYC revealed her new collaboration “Love Galore” with Travis Scott.
