New Jersey artist RetcH and Toronto based Tasha the Amazon connect for the first street single titled “Nowhere” which has been catching few ears. Tasha The Amazon knows how to create a frenzy without getting lost in it. On FIDIYOOTDEM, she stirs up a whole lot of trouble, but instead of getting buried under the mayhem, the sly cat quality of her voice lets us know that it’s all going according to plan. “I’m telling the police they can smell up on my crease” she snarls on “Let It Go,” falling in line with a storied history of vulgar vagina lines used as female empowerment. Tasha is powerful, and sounds even moreso over these absurdly big, grimy, hectic, infectious beats. Praise is due to Bass & Bakery. Download FIDIYOOTDEM below.

Fiery Toronto MC Tasha The Amazon has dropped a crisp and energetic new video for “Tru Life.” Her bio describes “rude stage antics and warehouse parties shut down by police raids,” and the video doesn’t contradict. “Tru Life,” as a song, is electrifying and rowdy to begin with, and somehow the video communicates an even more inflammatory mood. Toronto’s Tasha The Amazon will get you out of your seat. With strong, simple bars and a loud-and-clear flow, Tasha commands “Thru The Fire”‘s large, war-like beat with sly control. When she isn’t winking through threats in her verses, Tasha is holding the chant of a hook down, with a intriguing, foxy voice that suggests some range but doesn’t show off much. Bass & Bakery‘s beat is a serious co-star here, with every piece, every production choice working towards making “Thru The Fire” sound convincingly dramatic while still being fun.
