North Philadelphia’s Tana Black shares his latest single “I’m Not A Star” off the recent project G.O.D (Gold, Oil, Diamonds). Tana Black, also known as Sean Mac, is a young gifted hip-hop artist who was born to make music. As a kid, the North Philadelphia native would sing but by age 13, he discovered a new talent to rap and create hip-hop freestyles. As he continued to use his talent, he soon began to receive critical acclaim from his peers for his rhyming skills. By age 16, Tana was sure he wanted to be a professional recording artist. He describes making music as “an outlet, a way to escape, and a way out the hood.”

Though he is a hip-hop artist Tana’s sound is influenced by all genres of music. Growing up he remembers looking up to music artist such as Michael Jackson, Mase, and Usher. By age 18, Tana’s clever and quick witted word play gained him a slot on an underground DVD. It wasn’t long before music execs came looking for the young hip hop star. Tana landed a recording contract with Atlantic Records. At Atlantic Tana joined forces with music recording artist such as super producers Kanye West, Just Blaze, and R&B sensation, Trey Songz. At Atlantic, Tana groomed his skills by developing his songwriting talent.

Ultimately this young star is on the rise. He describes his sound as smooth, beautiful, and innovative. His ambitions include “being the best artist he can be, being an inspiration for kids who come from his same surroundings, winning Grammys,” and topping the Billboard charts. Tana plans to change the game by using his music to “paint vivid pictures about life, love, pain, and struggle like Maya Angelou and Edgar Allan Poe.” The sky is the limit for this multi dimensional artist. With his strong passion for songwriting and ferocious rhyme skills Tana Black is sure to make history.
