Yesterday, Rich Homie Quan’s right hand man, Young Thug released a crooning love song with Lil Wayne called “Take Kare.” It was a nice change of pace, but it’s good to hear a good old fashioned, New Atlanta banger. Don Cannon quenched this craving with “Big Money”
featuring Quan and A$AP Ferg, released today. Fergenstein gives the New Atlanta aesthetic a touch of Harlem by adopting Quan’s semi auto-tuned style. It’s always exciting to see our favorite rappers from up North showing love to our favorites from the South. One of 1017 Brick Squad’s in house producers, C4 delivered hard hitting production. The beat consists of rapid high-hats, psychedelic wobble bass and a boisterous brass melody. Listen below via Soundcloud.

Oh boy, Young Thug and Lil Wayne are finally on a track together. It’s immediately apparent when you listen to Young Thug that Weezy heavy influences him, and Thugger will be the first to admit that. In an interview with Fader at last year’s SXSW, Thug praised Weezy and says he “wouldn’t listen to nothin’ else.” Well, here it is and it’s surprisingly sentimental, with piano heavy production from London On Da Track. “Take Kare” could be easily be mixed on ladies night. With a crooning Thugger chorus that says “If I don’t do nothin’ in the world/swear to god I’m takin’ care of her.” It’s heartwarming, and an exciting start to hopefully many more collaborations.
