Man, what a time. Just imagine a line full of OVO fans who’ve been waiting all Summer Sixteen for one of the biggest tours of the year. People were here from all around the world to see the top dogs in the industry, Drake and Future.

I entered the Greensboro Coliseum and walked into a massive crowd of people from young kids to adults, and fans rocking paraphernalia, from summer sixteen and free-band gang shirts to Revenge dad hats. There were good vibes and a positive energy in the room. This was about to be one for the books. Entering into the actual arena was amusing, as the crowd was wild even before anyone hit the stage.

As we all wait for the first performer, the lights finally starts to dim, and the screaming and cheering gets incredibly loud. The Summer Sixteen Tour Concert started off with OVO’s own, Roy Woods. As he opened the show, I was right in front and ready to capture the moment. I wasn’t familiar with Woods and couldn’t name one of his songs. Now that I know a little more, I can tell by his performance he really has a passion for his music. Swaying and closing his eyes as he sung a few songs, you knew this was a special moment for him. If you’re not familiar with Woods, know that he’s a Canadian rapper and song writer apart of OVO. Give his version of Kodak Black‘s “SKRT” a listen, too.

Once Woods finished his set, DVSN hit the stage a few minutes later. You know that amazing voice on Drake’s “Faithful” ft. Pimp C in the end ? With those extremely crisp high notes? That’s him. This other OVO artist had the ladies in love as he was singing. It’s incredible when an artist sounds the same on stage as they do on a track. I’m sure this concert grabbed a huge and broader fan base due to his ability to hit any type of high note possible. Ladies were going crazy.

The people around me in the front row were super ecstatic as if they could feel Drake’s presence. It wasn’t his time though—not yet. TJizzle came out and gave the fans some music to rock to before we saw the main event. The crowd was going crazy as he played current hits from Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug and Travis Scott. He even gave us a little throwback with DJ Khaled’s “All I do is Win,” which people still go crazy for. He even played Bobby Shrumda‘s “Hot Boy.” After getting the crowd’s adrenaline pumping, he took us back to ’99 and the 2000s, playing classic Juvenile.

It’s about 9:30 p.m. and everybody’s screaming all over the building, thinking every person coming up the stage was Drake. I can’t lie though; my heart was pumping out of my chest for this moment. Lights start to flash all over the empty stage and fans are going insane.

Finally, Mr. 6 God his self hit the stage with an insane backdrop that said “Revenge” as the actual song came on. Once the beat dropped, you could literally feel speakers knock through your chest and if you were in the front, that bass took over you.

Drake took his fans back through all his classics from “Fell No Ways” “Motto,” “Headlines,” “Started from the Bottom,” and many more. When he performed “Feel A Way,” he showed mad love to the ladies in North Carolina while the beat stopped and keys just played.  We know Aubrey had to sing for the ladies. “You gonna make me bring a girl around my way,” says Drake, as the ladies all start to melt in the crowd.  It’s not a show unless he talks a little to the audience. He says, “Before it got big, NC always showed love! Might just come back with everybody I know!”

Drake’s transformation in the backdrops and on stage were impressive—from crazy stage set ups and pink lights floating in the air to fireworks bursting out the stage.

He finishes up his set with “Grammy,” so of course you know the Future himself comes out and blesses the stage with his verse. Future took it back for his real Freeband gang fans as he performed songs like “Move That Dope” and “Karate.” Then “Drought” comes on and everyone just f**ked your B***h in some Gucci flips flops. He gave us of feel of his new and older songs, then brings out Drake again to perform “Big Rings.” You know Future always comes in style, wearing a black bomber, with summer sixteen on it, but you won’t find that at the merch table.

P.Diddy and his son, Christian Combs, even hit Greensboro to show love for the tour. How ironic. Even after that alleged “beef “they had, they’re still supportive. This was definitely one of my favorite moments of Summer Sixteen as I embraced new artists, felt amazing energy and got to see Drake and Future make North Carolina go insane for one night. That’s how you do a killer concert.
