They had a certain hit song that put brothas who weren’t on their A-Game down. Remember No Scrubs? She doesn’t want your number and you better not live in your momma’s house or be on the passenger side of your best friend’s ride trying to holler at her! Well, the recession and uber changed the landscape since that song! Nonetheless the catchy song is still trendy today.

The song is so catchy thatDoughboy, a St. Louis lyricist, took the blast from the blast song and made it his own. We present to you, “No Thots.” Yes you heard right! No Thots!

Doughboy put his own spin on the TLC classic  “No Thots” is produced by Judge Beats and it will appear on Doughboy’s upcoming project, Sakrifices 2. The project is hosted by DJ Victoriouz.

Phaseone is a Brooklyn via St. Louis producer and composer who put himself on the map with remixes of Animal Collective, Burial and Nite Jewel. Now he’s putting his solo production in the spotlight with his second full length album, which will be the first off of Adult Swim‘s new record label, Williams Street Records. While Phaseone’s music on the whole isn’t hip-hop, the genre’s influence can definitely be felt in the way he structures his rhythm and bass, as well as in his use of  samples and loops. Check out Phaseone’s first single “Blood Spirit I” from the new LP If I Tell U, plus some of his more hip-hop centered tracks below.

Phaseone is scheduled to work with GZA on the rapper’s upcoming projects, so we’re curious to see how the artists’ two styles will blend together. From what we’ve heard, it’s definitely going to interesting, and fans should stay on the lookout for any forthcoming releases from either of the two.

Taking “inspiration” from HBO‘s Game Of Thrones, Goone, a St. Louis up-and-comer, lets his rhymes and intricate flows speak on this track. A solid vocabulary showing and a strong, melodic hook seal the deal on this one. Give it a couple listens because it is guaranteed you’ll miss out on some lines the first go ’round.
