The place of white people in Hip-Hop has been debate as old as time. While the genre is something that has been largely supported by white teenagers all around the world, white rappers still face turbulence and resistance from old heads on the daily. Some even go as far as to say that “White people are a guest in the house of Hip-Hop.” Regardless of opinion, white rappers have and will always be a huge part of our culture. Looking to knock on the door next is the crossover Los Angeles group, Space Cadets, with their dope new video, “Kissing“.

Combining acoustic guitar riffs and raspy vocals that often turn into catchy bars, “Kissing” is an interesting track. While at first listen, it sounds like just another pop group trying to hop on the rap wave — I’m talking to you 21 Pilots — but after about 30 seconds you can see the difference in this group. The songwriting is strong, the melodies are just as strong and the California dreams are on full display with these guys. Comprised of Zach Wexelman, Dan Creed and John Cocco, the Space Cadets are definitely a group to watch, and while they may not always stick to Hip-Hop — or even consider themselves Hip-Hop — the strong songwriting and witty cadences make them intriguing if nothing else.

Check out the video for “Kissing” above and be sure to keep an eye on the L.A. natives.
