SoundCloud and Zelle took over the iconic Native Hostel in the heart of downtown Austin. For two nights, March 12th and 13th, Room 512 brought to life music discovery experiences fans experienced on SoundCloud everyday. The event spotlighted every corner of the platform from hip-hop and alternative, to electronic and pop, with performances from Elohim, Jay Prince, Kitty Cash, Melo Makes Music, Nilufer Yanya, Party Pupils, Smokepurpp, Whethan and Yung Pinch.

With President Obama‘s eight-year tenure in the White House coming to a close, he has decided to drop us off with one last gift we could all enjoy.

On October 3, the White House will present its first-ever South by South Lawn festival with help from the American Film Institute and the President’s Committee on Arts and Humanities. South by South Lawn is a nod to the annual Austin, Texas music festival South by Southwest.

Earlier this year in March, the Obamas addressed the SXSW crowd as they discussed civic engagement and entrepreneurship. Striking a similar purpose to SXSW, the South Lawn event was created to “improve the lives of fellow Americans and people around the world” through some of music’s most inspiring acts and various innovative creators and organizers.

The South Lawn event will be composed of three portions: Interactive, Film, and Music. The interactive portion will focus on social change and technological advances through interactive booths which encourage attendees to engage with others; The film portion will debut hundreds of short films from students in grades K-12 with the theme “The World I Want to Live In”; meanwhile the music portion is pretty much self-explanatory.

The White House official website is allowing you to nominate yourself or someone you know to attend South by South Lawn. The deadline for submission is Saturday, Sept. 10th at 5 p.m.

Aftermath’s new signee Kendrick Lamar debuted his Neptunes produced “Staircases” at the Jacked Stage by Doritos at SXSW in Austin. The song features Pharrell’s artist Buddy and sounds like it should be a good one from K.Dot.
