Schoolboy Q said he planned on releasing a video for every track on his Oxymoron album he just might be sticking to that! The TDE rapper dropped visuals for “Hoover Street,” where he goes back to his hood to depict his earlier days of gang banging. Hoover Street is notoriously known in LA for it’s gang violence, and Q takes a walk down memory lane in the Yellow Nguyen and Moosa-directed video. The video is very vivid and powerful, and thankfully Q found his calling in rap before the streets took him under. Check out the video below.

Kansas City’s pride Gee Watts has just dropped his second official mixtape, Watts Up. Watts clearly understands the importance of consistency and cohesion; the tape is nearly bulletproof. The production is always solid, particularly shining on the dark “Watts R.I.O.T.” and the somber “Trust Nobody.” Gee Watts more than holds up his end of the bargain, supplying thoughtful, genuine rhymes ripe with fresh wordplay and personal truths. The only concern is whether Watts’ voice will prove distinctive enough to become a breakthrough artist or if he will have to depend on hardcore hip-hop heads for all his support. Also, there is the occasional misfire on the hook front, but other than that, the tape is is superb. Stream and download Watts Up, featuring appearances by Kendrick Lamar, Dre Harmony, and Adrian Truth, as well as production from DA, Mike Hurst, sounwave, TheGhost816, Tee Ohh, FL Goon, and MG. Shout out to Datpiff for the link.

Courtesy of LA Leakers, Black Hippy unleashes another new track. The group’s two most introspective lyrical acrobats tackle Awolnation’s “Sail” with a pair of spacey, philosophical sixteens. TDE’s in-house producer Sounwave revamps the original track with drum-line snares, jet engines and heavy distortion to more fittingly punctuate K.Dot and Soulo‘s verses. No word on if this will see life on any legit project, or if it’s just a gift for fans, though it’s probably the latter. It seems Black Hippy is making a play for hip-hop domination, and there are few acts if any in sight fit to stop them.
