Queens, New York and Canada connect on Tha Jerm’s latest offering, “Ching”.

Montreal singer/songwriter, Kalipop, links with SOI’s producer/engineer Tha Jerm, to provide an ideal vibe over perfectly composed production. The pair have worked together in the past on various projects, including Kalipop’s most recent album, NEON, which was exclusively engineered and mixed by Jerm, and also featured his production on several tracks. You may be familiar with his sound in the world of hardcore hip-hop, as Tha Jerm has worked with many veteran rappers such as Dave East, Lloyd Banks, Jim Jones, SchoolBoy Q, Danny Brown, French Montana, Styles P, Jadakiss, and more. This time around, the goal was to deliver something out of the ordinary.

“The first time I met Kali, I knew she was a star. We’ve made many great records, but when I made this beat, I knew she was going to make this one VERY special! Her direction with creating “Ching” reflected on her situation at the time. She wanted to express that money doesn’t judge you like people do”. – Tha Jerm

“Kalipop was dealing with a lot during the recording process of Ching”, says Tha Jerm. “She was feeling really broke and struggling with people judging her without knowing her, you know, like most people” We can see, that didn’t slow her down, nor did it discourage her from creating music to empower others. It’s definitely refreshing to see a young artist develop her own sound, write her own music and remain driven and confident.

“Ching” is now available on all streaming platforms, and will be featured on Tha Jerm’s forthcoming project, Destiny To The Riches, which is geared up for a September 2018 release.

Listen to the track above, and more from Kalipop’s latest release, NEON here! Also, be sure to drop us your thoughts in the comments section.

Producers are often the unsung heroes of the music industry. There’s only a select few of Just Blazes and Timbalands for every plethora of producers that reach parallel levels of notoriety as the artists spitting the verse, even on Hip-hop’s most monumental songs. Generally, the vast amount of people behind the scenes, remain that way. Over the past few decades, aside from fans knowing a producer’s signature sound, fans knowing the producer or DJ’s catchy drop was the most you could ask for.

Thanks to “On the Spot Sessions”, set up by MaschineMasters.com and ProducersGear.com, the viewing public get an intimate view of record engineering and production. In this episode, we see super producer Tha Jerm of SOI (whose catalog includes Lloyd Banks, Dave East, Jadakiss, Danny Brown, and French Montana) depicting every step of his creative process, from receiving tracks he samples from, creating the skeleton, adding his preferable amount of percussion to the actual emcee, Queens’ own, Gist, who pens the dope 16—motivated by the fire gospel sounds produced on the spot.

Check out the whole episode here, which gets you almost close enough to the process to earn a co-producer cred.

Tha Jerm is also geared up to release two projects this year, consisting of his own compilation, which will feature several hip-hop heavyweights such as, Dave East, Mobb Deep, Lloyd Banks, Gist The Essence, Mike Classic, and more. Gist and Jerm are also finishing their EP, which will feature the full version of the record created for On The Spot Sessions, entitled All Is Well. Be sure to look out for that and everything else on deck!
