If you’re still as big of a Snoop fan now that the Dogg is a Lion, this photo of him, Pharrell and Stevie Wonder in a studio should make you want to praise Jah. Taken from his personal Instagram, Snoop Lion captions, “Session wit skate board p n the musical genius Stevie wonder !! Uh uh !! Album comin soon #snoopdogg”. There’s no telling if this will be another hip-hop album to be compared with his eleven previous releases, or if this will be in Reincarnated‘s Reggae vein. Either way, we’re more than confident that whatever is being created will add to Snoop’s list of classics, especially when working with melodic masterminds such as Skate Board P and Stevie Wonder.

New Video: Snoop Dogg – “Gangstas Don’t Live That Long”

A lot of ground gets covered here. In the song, Snoop ruminates on the changing meaning of “gangsta,” comments on Kendrick’s rise, and considers his history in the game. In the video, we’re witness to Snoop’s morning routine, his coaching of a youth football team, and, of course, the painting that ties the whole video together. Kendrick Lamar Talks Fame, Jay-Z and No Longer Being “K.Dot” Then Drops A Freestyle.

Kendrick Lamar stopped by Bullett Magazine to talk about his reaction to fame, his respect for Jay-Z and the change from being known as K.Dot to Kendrick Lamar. The artist paints a setting explaining:

“Dre’s there. Snoop is in the room. Beautiful women are in the room. Homeboys are in the room, and everyone’s just mingling, man. It’s one of those moments when you’re like, I’m really a rapper now. Shit like that trips you out,” he says. “Even just walking onto your tour bus and seeing a full-blown studio in there, you’re like, Damn, I’m really doing this shit.”

The 25 year old rapper praises Jay-Z declaring:

“I salute people like Jay-Z,” he says. “How many tours has he been on? How many verses has he put down? How many interviews? How many radio shows? People forget that. They can’t fathom how a dude from the Marcy Projects is sitting next to Barack Obama, so they make up all types of crazy shit and forget the facts: This nigga dedicated every single day of his life to this, and what he has wasn’t just given to him. It’s no mistake he’s at where he’s at.”

The artist also developed on his choice to use his real name:

“I’ll always be K.Dot out in the hood and to my homies,” says Lamar, “but using my real name is symbolic of me showing people who I really am.”

New Music: Snoop Lion feat. Drake & Cori B – “No Guns Allowed”

Here is a little inspiration on this first day of spring. Snoop Lion teams up with his daughter Cori B and Drake to send a positive message regarding gun violence. It seems today that the use of guns has completely gotten out of hand and it is commendable for Snoop to take action via this track. It is produced by Major Lazer and Ariel Rechtshaid and will be featured on his upcoming album Reincarnated that will drop on April 23rd.

50 Cent, Bow Wow and others came out to support Snoop at his screening for Reincarnated, in New York City. Although Mr. Lion has recently caught flack for being an alleged Rastafari imposter (the Rastafari Millenium Council does not approve), it doesn’t seem to bother him one bit.

Snoop Dogg and Action Bronson on GGN

Peep Snoop Dogg on his Youtube news channel GGN (Double G News Network) as he talks it out with Flushing‘s favorite rapping chef, Action Bronson. Alongside Bronson‘s love for whole roast turkeys and his upcoming music video with Alchemist off the Red Chandeliers Project, this episode of GGN also sheds light on Snoop Dogg‘s former alias, Young Eggs. Apparently, before there was Snoop Lion or Snoop Dogg, there was Young Eggs: Detroit‘s hottest McDonald’s breakfast chef in 1986. Perhaps a Young Eggs x Action Bronson cooking show is in the works?

Exclusive Pictures from Osheaga Day 2: A$AP Rocky, SBTRKT and Snoop Dogg Lion

For hip-hop fans in Montreal on Saturday, 6pm was the magic hour. A$AP Rocky took over Scene Verte –Osheaga’s third biggest stage– starting the party with old favorites like “Trilla” and and sneak peaks off Long.Live.ASAP. Pretty Flacko showed he’s more than just a pretty face with his powerful stage presence and engaging sense of humor, calling out the crowd for dropping a crowd surfer (who then collectively picked him up to continue the surf immediately). Knowing he would later jump into their arms himself, Rocky needed to make sure he could trust, and the homies proved they has his back. The music festival spirit of love and unity kicking off with the in-sync crowd loving every second of being included in the musical experience.

As A$AP neared an end, the crowd buzzed with discussion of where to head next and SBTRKT proved the overwhelming favorite. The duo of electro producers from London played without their masks, mixing and looping music on the spot, keeping the party alive. Bodies were moving without abandon as the beats and sounds forced the packed crowd into nonstop dancing. The one-two punch of A$AP-SBTRKT was only to be topped by the third charm: Snoop.

He made everyone wait an hour, but the crowd held strong, filling the entire main stage area. After endless debate throughout the day on whether he would perform as Snoop Dogg or Lion, everyone needed to see for themselves. And it was worth it. Snoop came out in stellar form, first performing all of his classics, then transforming into Snoop Lion for his most recent release. His finale was most memorable– the entire crowd of thousands singing the chorus to “Young, Wild and Free” in unison, creating an incredible sense of camaraderie that lasted the entire packed train ride home. On Saturday night, everyone caught the spirit.
