Apple Is Starting Its Own Version Of Snapchat, With New App Planned For 2017

Apple has plans for 2017 to go head- to-head with Snapchat and Instagram by developing its own video-sharing app as part of a push to target younger users next years. With the addition of new features coming to the Messages app in iOS 10, why not explore the app world more?

According to published reports, the growth of Apple’s hardware business is slowing and Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook is looking to the company’s services business, such as the App Store and iCloud storage, as a way to generate increased revenue.

Apple has failed to successfully launch social-media services in the past, including an iTunes-focused social network called Ping in 2010. The company is said to be motivated by the fact that social apps generate the greatest level of engagement on the iPhone, Facebook users averaging 50 minutes a day, Snapchat users 30 minutes. Bloomberg reports:

The goal behind the project’s development is to offer simple video editing with tools that appeal to the generation of users growing up with Snapchat and Instagram, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private.

Apple’s current plan calls for its project to become a stand-alone app, presumably as a download via the App Store, but the company may decide to package the functionality into the iPhone’s existing camera application, the people said.

Apple is starting to develop a video sharing app that allows users to record video, apply filters and drawings to the media — much like Snapchat does — and send it to contacts or via existing social networks such as Twitter Inc., according to the people familiar with its development. The software is currently being designed to be used mostly with one hand and with the intention that video could be shot, edited, and uploaded in less than 1 minute, the people said.

Apple has made preparation for this transition, introducing third-party animated sticker packs to iMessage as part of iOS 10.

For example, two friends could be able to see all text messages, e-mails, and social network interactions between each other in a single window, one of the people said.

Rising Teen Artist Kyle Evan To Drop Debut Single, Snapchat

Massachusetts bred recording artist Kyle Evan, is hard at work. The 16 year old teen phenom is a singer, songwriter, producer, engineer and dancer. At the age of 10 he appeared at the Apollo and by 11 he covered a Michael Jackson record that garnered over 200,000 views on World Star Hip Hop. He has collaborated with Grammy nominated, Multi Platinum and Gold certified Mixing and Recording engineer Serge Tsai and recorded radio promo singles for Tony Guess, Kid Fresh, and the Hot Morning Crew (Nancy Barrow and DJ Buck) for Hot 93.7 WZMX.

Evan recently signed a production deal with music executive Malcolm Miles, CEO of Dreams Come True Music Group. Among Evan’s greatest musical influences are first and foremost his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but also The Delfonics, The Spinners, The S.O.S. Band, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Stevie Wonder, Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Kanye, Jay-Z, and Kendrick Lamar; with his biggest influence being Michael Jackson, whose music Evan cites as having played a major role in his life, including inspiring him to reach out to troubled youth and children suffering from illnesses. With such a wide range of influences Evan prefers not to box himself in as an artist or classify his music as belonging to any one particular genre but focuses instead on the content within his music and how he can better connect to and inspire his listeners. Music is his passion! His goal, as an artist, is for his music to be recognized for its quality, and ultimately to uplift and inspire people of all backgrounds and ages across the world.

After releasing a tweet this weekend with the caption “done,” Big Sean left fans and followers wondering if this was his way of saying that his new album was really complete. Turns out, it is true. Big Sean’s third studio album, Dark Sky Paradise. The artists that will be featured are posting an cloud image on the instagrams. So far Travi$ Scott, Drake, Jhene Aiko, E-40, PARTYNEXTDOOR and D Khaled have confirmed their spots. Lil Wayne and Kanye West will also make appearances.
