Toronto meets LA as Tory Lanez connects with the collective WEDIDIT to create there brand new EP, entitled Cruel Intentions.

With the EP Tory Lanez gives you R&B with chilling vocals over soft yet ominous productions that sends you on a emotional roller coaster. The 5-track EP’s production comes from Baauer, D33J, Play Picasso, RL Grime and Shlohmo, and there are no features.

When The FADER asked Lanez what he wanted listeners to take away from Cruel Intentions, he answered, “Go do what it makes you feel like doing. It’s a good piece of music to reflect to. There’s fun parts of it, there’s sad parts of it: all the moods in such a small compilation. Feel good, go fuck somebody.”

Tory Lanez has an entire EP with the LA-based collective WeDidIt, home to buzzing atmospheric producers like RL Grime and Shlohmo. The first single off the highly anticipated EP featured production from RL Grime, “In For It.” The project’s second release taps Shlohmo for his moody, slow-moving production on “Acting Like.” It’s crazy. The song is driven by a distorted bass and synths, complimented by Tory’s r’n’b vocals detailing his friends with benefits relationship.

Jeremih and Shlohmo have released their long-awaited EP entitled No More. After remixing Jeremih’s “Fuck You All The Time,” the two teamed up for the repeat worthy “Bo Peep (Do You Right)” track . The two have garnered an online cult following and have had people anticipating their collaborative effort. The EP  includes 6 tracks and a feature from Chance The Rapper. No More is available for download via Shlohmo’s site, but the EP can be streamed below.

West coaster Shlohmo teamed up with the always smooth Jeremih for a new slow jam. The screwed vocal samples play off of Jeremih‘s falsetto nicely, not to mention the fact that the beat is the perfect smattering of beeps, clicks, distorted fuzz and rollicking bass to feel constantly new without being overwhelming. Last month we introduced you to the first episode of HASHTAG$, the new YouTube series from Red Bull Music Academy. HASHTAG$ does a great job of finding musicians, singers, producers, and artists of all kinds to talk about their so-called music subcultures. Specifically, the series focuses in how the world wide web has influenced the growth and development of today’s new sounds like #PostDubStep, #Seapunk, #TumblrWave, and whatever else you can think of.

However, no matter how good Red Bull is at getting up close and personal with you’re favorite internet genre scene, its important to remember the reoccuring theme evident in the title of each Hashtag$ episode: Don’t call it [insert popular internet genre here]! No matter how cool you think you are making references to the Seapunk scene, chances are, your favorite artist does not take their label as seriously as you do. If you’re really about that life, then you’re about that life — no need to slap a name on it.

So, thank you Red Bull, for being the YouTube version of a blatant oxymoron, by telling us not to mention the #Name of our favorite internet music genre, while presenting a 15 minute document on that said genre. Take a look at the all of the Hashtag$ videos to date, exploring the inside world of contemporary underground internet music; just be sure never to call it that.
