Marilyn Van Alstyne transformed her love of music into a full time job.

Currently the CEO and founder of EMVE Management Group, Van Alstyne, began her journey as an intern with Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment in 1995.

Her point of entry came after hearing Puff pitch his need for interns on the airwaves of New York City’s Hot 97.

A Queens, NY native, Van Alstyne formerly held the position of VP of Branded Entertainment, Planning, Operations & Talent Partnerships at Combs Enterprises Blue Flame Ad Agency. At her post there, she was a trusted advisor and go-to person that handled the day-to-day operations of Revolt TV, Sean John, Blue Flame, Bad Boy Records and Combs Wines & Spirits. She also worked with some of your favorite stars like Rick Ross, Fabolous, French Montana and Meek Mill.

Working in a male-dominated field, Van Alstyne encourages young women that one day hope to do what she does to manage their time effectively. “You don’t want to wake up one day in your forties and regret the decisions that you made in your twenties,” she said.

“You can always start over in your forties, but you might want to challenge yourself to do something new every day—even the things that scare you.”

It’s no doubt that Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs is having the best week ever! The man has been on a roll this week closing out the month of March with much madness. He has already announced that he’ll be opening up a charter school in his native neighborhood of Harlem New York. He later announced that he and the entire Bad Boy Records roaster will do a one night only reunion concert in Brooklyn honoring The Notorious B.I.G.‘s 44th birthday. And now he drops a new music video!

Puff Daddy unleashed the visual for the fan favorite track off the MMM album he dropped last year on his 46th birthday. The hip-hop hit-maker teamed up with musician, Ty Dolla $ign, for the track, along with rapper, Gizzle. The music video’s comic relief intro is the Happily Ever After interlude from MMM, right before Puff Daddy recreates B.I.G.’s debut music video “Juicy.” In true Diddy fashion he and the crew have an epic house party full of gorgeous women surrounding them. If you look closely you’ll see Puff sporting the same Bad Boy jersey B.I.G. wore poolside in his “Juicy” video.

Watch where “You Could Be My Lover” and “Juicy” meet.

Remember back when he told ya’ll that he wouldn’t stop?!

Sean “Diddy” Combs is a man of his word. The hip-hop mogul announced Monday that he is opening a charter school in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood. Combs, who is a Harlem native has been working closely with Capital Preparatory Schools for the past five years strategizing its plans for the school, which is scheduled to open its doors in Harlem this coming fall.

Opening the charter school is a “dream come true” said mogul who has something new to add to his litany of entrepreneurial endeavors. “I want to impact the lives of young people in my community, and build future leaders. The first step is offering access to a quality education,” Combs said in a statement provided to The Huffington Post. “Every young person should have the tools they need to succeed. All our children should be able to pursue their dreams. That is something I can impact with this school.”

Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School is a free public school for students in grades 6-12. According to the schools website, admission is open to all New York state residents and applications will be accepted until April 1. There will be 170 sixth and seventh graders selected to attend the schools inaugural year. The enrollment will continue to expand reaching its 700 student capacity.

Educator, Dr. Steve Perry, who oversees the school’s Orlando-base will join Combs in this venture. Also, Danita Jones has been named as the school’s principal. Additional educators are expected to be named leading up to the school’s opening this fall.

“Sean and I have spent many long hours over the last five years talking about education and how best to meet the needs of the young people of Harlem, and I couldn’t be more pleased to continue this journey through the opening of the school.” Dr. Perry stated in the release. “I’m inspired by Sean Combs’ belief that educating our young people is the key to opening up a world of opportunity for them.”

The Bad Boy mogul shows us how to run through the money in the visual for “Blow A Check” off his 2015 MMM project. Surrounded by women as he sets fire to 100 dollar bills before being chased by women in the streets, in true Diddy form. Later he and French have an office party in the Combs business office.

Ready To Die by the late Notorious B.I.G. is one of the most critically acclaimed albums in hip-hop history. Part of the original album review that Source Magazine gave in 1994 states, “Overall, this package is complete: ridiculous beats, harmonizing honeys, ill sound effects, and familiar hooks …” The bulk of those “ridiculous beats” were produced by Osten “Easy Mo Bee” Harvey Jr. Prior to his career with Bad Boy Records Bee produced records for Big Daddy Kane, Wu-Tang Clan, and even the legendary trumpet player Miles Davis. Sean “Diddy” Combs, better known as Puff Daddy in the early 1990’s, eventually called on Bee and his heavy bass and jazz influenced sound for Bad Boy’s first album, Project: Funk da World by Craig Mack. Bee also collaborated with Tupac during the early years of his rap career. The song “Runnin’ From Tha Police” that features Tupac and B.I.G., later remixed by Eminem to make “Runnin‘,” was produced by Bee. Easy Mo Bee split with Bad Boy after B.I.G.’s Life After Death project claiming to be misrepresented in official production credits. Some of his most noteable tracks are “Ooh I Love You Rakeem,” “Warning,” and “If I Was Your Woman/Walk On By.”

Janelle Monae can only be labeled one of a kind. Always wearing her uniform of black tuxedo and gravity-defying hair, Monae is easily recognizable and just as unforgettable. As Vogue Magazine described her, Monae embodies, “A different kind of diva.” She focuses on and remains committed to the true art behind her every move and influencing everyone around her.

Let’s start from the beginning: Monae was born in Kansas City, Kansas, but later moved to New York to study Theatre at The American Musical And Dramatic Academy. From there, she went on to be a singer, songwriter, dancer and performer who has already began to leave her creative fingerprints all over the music world. She is signed to the Wondaland Arts Society (which she helped create) and Bad Boy/Atlantic Records. Diddy, who Monae works with on Bad Boy Records praises her as, “A true visionary…one of the most important signings of my career.” Monae asserts her creativity through the short films, songs, music videos and performances she produces. Monae has already been nominated for a Grammy and just recently received the Vanguard Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Monae released two full length albums Metropolis and The ArchAndroid and collaborates with many other artists to create inspiring, artistic music and videos. Monae has learned to”embrace the things that make me unique and to continue being and even bigger agent of change, especially as an artist.” Unique she definitely is, and hopefully the music industry will grow and change from the antics of Janelle Monae.
