Sean Christopher is a recording artist based in ATL making noise with his latest release. The artist recently dropped his EP Unrequited which consists of seven tracks that shows us a different side of Sean. We recently caught up with him to get to know him a little more as an artist and to discuss the EP. Check out the conversation below and click play on his music.

Hey Sean, how’s the day treating you? Where are you located right now?

I am based in Atlanta but I’m in here bouncing from Michigan to Toronto right now. I’ve been hanging with the Weeknd’s artist because he had an album release. I’m up here for him then I have to go up to Toronto to work on my next EP.

How long have you been doing music?

I have been doing music for 8 years and then I rebranded myself as a solo artist. So, for 4 years I was a singer in a group and we were based in Detroit. When I moved to Atlanta for school I started my solo career.

What school is this? Did you go to this school for hip-hop?

I went to Morehouse and it was more of a legacy thing.

We’re wrapping up 2019. What’s your energy right now?

I am feeling great. Especially because I just dropped my second EP ever. I have great producers on it.

Your first project you dropped is Commencement in 2015. Last month you dropped Unrequited. Describe the major changes between the two projects.

I dropped Commencement in 2015 and from then, I changed drastically as far as vocals and writing. Commencement really set my fan base.

You mentioned that your new EP has well known producers.

Yes, my EP has Natra Average. He was a producer on XXXTentacion’s last album. Also, I have Zaybans and K.o.b.

So, what’s your definition of Unrequited?

Unreciprocated. People didn’t reciprocate the same love that I gave. I named it that because when I was recording all these songs, it was me showing my more aggressive side and less sentimental side. Revealing my inner trap side. I have made a lot of changes, I was thinking about dropped one full project but I learned that people’s attention spans are short. I decided to put out an EP every other month. So, I am actually going back to Toronto tomorrow and meet with some great producers to get this EP together.

What else do you have in store?

Trying to do more shows and I don’t want to say yet. I am actually in the process of opening for major artists.

Smooth, catchy and on-trend, Sean Christopher’s “Way Up” is everything you could ask for from an emerging hip-hop artist. Its visual adds another element to the track, defining Christopher as an artist with a current sound and a style from a time before him.

In a landscape where lo-fi bedroom rappers dominate the underground scene, taking on a more traditional hip-hop persona is a bit of an artistic risk. Despite this, Christopher has distinguished himself as a force to be reckoned with. Detroit-born and Atlanta-bred, he has mastered the art of implementing styles native to both cities in his music. The gritty nature of Detroit hip-hop shines in Christopher’s demeanor and presentation, evoking feelings of the city’s own J Dilla, and his sound has not so subtly been influenced by the success of Atlanta’s thriving trap seen.

“Way Up” is a testament to Christopher’s ability to camouflage into hip-hop’s ever- changing flavor while maintaining his own resolute artistry.
