Edgar Flores is a Mexican artist and illustrator known on the streets as Saner. His work is populated by mystical characters he uses to tell stories.

Saner applies symbolic cultural characteristics with the element of surprise. His “bounty hunters of souls” are characters with dog or coyote skulls as heads. Based on macabre tales of lost innocence in which creatures steals peoples souls, “the bounty hunters of souls show us that life can be sometimes very empty. We can be like zombies, wondering lost within our cities,” he says.

Many of his figures are masked, an important symbol in storytelling. “We wear a mask most of the time, or at least that’s how I see it. I think they are some sides we prefer to hide, or sometimes we just walk around without knowing who we are.”
